March saw a lot of big game releases, with everything from relaxing titles like Pokemon Pokopia to action-packed games like Crimson Desert. Because of that, April 2026 feels a little quieter. However, there are still many new games launching this month on all platforms, including some exciting options for the Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2.
No matter which Nintendo Switch you have – the original or the new Switch 2 – there are some great games coming in April 2026. Both consoles will receive new releases, including first-party titles like Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream and several exciting games from other developers. Here’s a look at some of the most anticipated games coming to Switch and Switch 2 this April, ranked from least to most hyped.
6)Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard

Release Date: April 21st
Platform(s): Switch, plus PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S
If you enjoy Vampire Survivors or games where you build a deck of cards, you should definitely take a look at this new game. It’s a spin-off of Vampire Survivors that offers a fresh take on the story and gameplay. Fans of the original game and deckbuilding fans will likely be excited. However, there are a lot of similar games out right now, so while it’s a good release, it doesn’t quite stand out as one of the most anticipated titles this month.
The game Vampire Crawlers will be released on April 21st for $9.99 on the original Nintendo Switch, and will also work on the new Switch 2 thanks to backwards compatibility. It’s also coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
5) inKONBINI: One Store, Many Stories

Release Date: April 30th
Platforms: Switch, plus PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S
If you’re a fan of running shops in video games, you should definitely check out inKONBINI. It’s a charming game where you manage a convenience store in 1990s Japan, with a story that changes based on your decisions. I’m really excited about this one, although I realize games like this aren’t for everyone.
inKONBINI will release on April 30th for Nintendo Switch, and will also be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. While the digital price is still to be announced, you can pre-order physical copies for $49.99.
4) Pokemon Champions

Release Date: April 8th
Platform(s): Switch & Switch 2
The new Pokémon battle game is launching on both Switch and Switch 2 on April 8th, kicking off a fresh chapter for competitive Pokémon. Fans of traditional turn-based battles will likely enjoy it, although I do have some reservations about how the game is monetized. However, because it caters to a more niche audience, I don’t expect it to be a massive hit like some other Pokémon games.
Pokémon Champions is a game you can start playing for free, with the option to subscribe or buy items within the game. It will initially be available only on Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2, but a mobile version is planned for release later.
3) Outbound

Release Date: April 23rd
Platform(s): Nintendo Switch, as well as PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S
I tried out the demo for this relaxing survival game during the Steam Next Fest, and I’m really excited to play the full version on my Switch! In Outbound, you explore an open world and try to live sustainably, away from modern conveniences. Your van serves as your mobile home and helps you adapt to the environment. It’s a great fit for both survival game enthusiasts and players who enjoy cozy, open-world adventures, and it seems perfectly suited for the Switch.
The game Outbound will launch on April 23rd for Nintendo Switch and will also work on the upcoming Switch 2. It will cost $24.99 and is also coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
2) Pragmata

Release Date: April 17th
Platform(s): Switch 2, as well as PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S
If you’re into sci-fi or enjoy games with unique combat, keep an eye on Pragmata in April. Capcom has been consistently impressive with their 2026 lineup, and this game looks to be no different. You play as Hugh and his android partner, Diana, as they attempt to survive and escape a research station on the moon. I’ve had a chance to play it on the Switch 2, and it runs smoothly and looks fantastic.
The game Pragmata will be released on April 17th for the new Switch 2 console. Unfortunately, it won’t be playable on the original Switch. It will cost $59.99 and is also coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
1) Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Release Date: April 16th
Platform(s): Switch & Switch 2
If you like relaxing but unpredictable games, keep an eye on Tomodachi Life when it comes to the Switch and Switch 2 this April. This sequel to the original Tomodachi Life lets you create and manage a town full of Mii characters. With the free demo already proving popular, it’s shaping up to be the biggest Switch release of the month.
The life simulation game, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, is coming to Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 on April 16th. You can try a free demo now, and the complete game will be available for $59.99 when it launches.
