6 Most Powerful Heroes in Resident Evil, Ranked

The Resident Evil series boasts a huge world with many beloved characters. Capcom has done a great job of revisiting fan favorites and developing their stories, and even some characters who only appear once have made a big impact. When it comes to the heroes, a few consistently rank as the strongest. Strength isn’t just about muscle, though – some characters are just as effective in a fight despite not being physically imposing.

Here are the six strongest heroes in Resident Evil history.

6) Hunk

Hunk in Resident Evil Requiem appears somewhat villainous, but that fits his background. He previously worked for the nefarious Umbrella Corporation as security personnel and now operates as a highly skilled mercenary. Despite being playable, his ambiguous role earns him a spot on this list.

Hunk first became well-known for escaping Raccoon City in 1998, fighting through countless zombies and incredibly powerful creatures along the way. While he’s not very talkative, Hunk is a ruthless fighter who can go toe-to-toe with almost anyone in the Resident Evil universe.

5) Carlos Oliviera

Though his role was brief, Carlos’ performance in the Resident Evil 3 remake definitely stood out. Unlike Jill Valentine, who relies on dodging, Carlos simply fights back by punching zombies.

I don’t know how much of a bite it takes to get infected by a zombie, but getting close enough for one definitely seems risky. Carlos is incredibly brave to fight them hand-to-hand. He’s also well-equipped and a strong fighter, able to go toe-to-toe with Jill against Nemesis. While he didn’t defeat the monster alone, his contribution was significant.

4) Jill Valentine

Jill is just outside my top three. Her incredible battle with Nemesis, which she mostly handled herself, almost moved her higher on the list. However, Capcom hasn’t featured Jill prominently in recent games, limiting her chances to prove herself against new monsters.

It would be great to see Jill return as a central character soon. She’s widely considered the best character in the entire Resident Evil series, and she deserves more appearances to match the focus given to other characters. She truly deserves more time in the spotlight.

3) Leon Kennedy

Many fans believe Leon deserves a higher ranking. He single-handedly took down a dangerous cult and rescued the President’s daughter in Resident Evil 4, proving how far he’s come since his early days as a new police officer in Raccoon City.

Also, his performance in Resident Evil: Requiem proved that even though he’s getting older, Leon is still incredibly effective at fighting zombies – arguably better than most. I wouldn’t object if we ranked the next character equally as high. My only reason for placing him here is simply that I haven’t seen him perform a feat of incredible physical strength like punching a boulder. Let me know if he ever does!

2) Chris Redfield

Chris Redfield is arguably the most recognizable character in the entire Resident Evil series. While he hasn’t been in every game, he almost always makes some kind of appearance, even if it’s just a quick cameo. And when he shows up, you can be sure he’ll be taking down plenty of zombies.

Chris is far more than just his signature attack. He’s demonstrated exceptional skill as both a fighter and a military commander, and his number of victories is incredibly high. He’d be the clear winner in most scenarios, except for his opponent, who has a hidden advantage. However, when considering only ordinary humans, Chris is the strongest.

1) Jake Muller

Only one person ranks higher than Chris – the son of Albert Wesker. This gives Jake some unique advantages over our typical heroes, like natural immunity to genetic mutations. While I haven’t experienced a zombie outbreak myself, it seems like a pretty useful skill when battling enemies.

With faster healing and strength at the height of human capability, Jake is genetically superior to most. He’s not just relying on his genes either – he trained as a mercenary and became a skilled fighter. While fans would love to see him return in a future game, Capcom might hesitate because he’s become so powerful.
