I first encountered Saga of Tanya the Evil as a fan of the original light novel by Carlo Zen, with art by Shinobu Shinotsuki. It quickly expanded with a manga in 2016 and then an anime in 2017. What really struck me was its unique blend of World War I-inspired settings, believable military tactics, and fast-paced action, all centered around a protagonist who finds themselves reborn into this unfamiliar world. The first anime season had 12 episodes, followed by a movie in February 2019. It’s been over six years now, and fans, including myself, have been eagerly awaiting news about Season 2. The good news is, they announced it four years ago and confirmed the original voice actors and team would be returning, but we haven’t seen much since.
The second season of Saga of Tanya the Evil is officially in production! Yasushi Uemura will direct, with Yuji Hosogoe returning as character designer and chief animation director, and Kento Ihara as the scriptwriter. The news, shared recently, has excited fans who have been waiting for updates for years. According to anime news source @MangaMoguraRE, more details are coming soon, possibly within the next few weeks. The announcement quickly spread among fans, who are eager for the series’ return.
Saga of Tanya the Evil Is a Unique Fantasy Isekai

This unique story centers on Tanya Degurechaff, a cold and calculating protagonist who was once a jaded Japanese salaryman. Reborn as a young girl in an alternate early 20th-century Europe consumed by war, she’s known for her ruthless and self-serving actions that terrify her opponents. The story begins with her defiant challenge to a powerful, self-proclaimed God, resulting in her unusual reincarnation into this magical, war-torn world where magic is used mainly for military gain.
I’ve been following Tanya’s story, and she’s determined to rise through the military ranks. But it’s not easy – Being X is still causing her a lot of trouble as she tries to create a peaceful life. Even though Being X seems to want her to suffer, Tanya is surprisingly good at war and quickly catches the attention of her superiors. She’s really making the most of a difficult situation.
The story follows Tanya as she navigates a difficult path, trying to break free from the control of a self-appointed god while also fighting in a war to conquer the world. Both the first season of the anime and its sequel movie are now available on Crunchyroll, a popular streaming service for anime fans worldwide. Plus, Yen Press has been publishing the original light novel in English since December 19, 2017, under its Yen On label.
