Crunchyroll is gearing up for its Spring 2026 anime season, adding many of the most anticipated new shows to its streaming library. As the leading platform for anime fans worldwide, Crunchyroll is known for consistently offering a wide selection of series each season. Among the returning shows is a sequel to the dark fantasy anime Dorohedoro, produced by the studio MAPPA. Founded in 2011, MAPPA has become a major animation force thanks to popular hits like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. While Dorohedoro has a dedicated following, it hasn’t reached the same level of mainstream popularity as some of MAPPA’s other well-known titles.
This anime is adapted from a manga by Q Hayashida that ran from 2000 to 2018. The anime first appeared in 2020, soon after the manga finished, and was initially available on Netflix. With the second season’s release date approaching, Crunchyroll is now offering the first season with Japanese audio and subtitles, plus dubbed versions in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Thai – everywhere except Japan and China. Crunchyroll will also start streaming Season 2 on April 1st, with new episodes becoming available shortly after they air in Japan.
What Is Dorohedoro About?

The story takes place in a gritty, fantastical city where a dangerous neighborhood known as the Hole is ruled by power and brutality. Life is cheap there, and only the strongest survive – a fitting reality for the area’s grim name. The Hole also serves as a playground for ruthless sorcerers who see the people as disposable test subjects. They conduct experiments on those near the local hospital every day. Caiman, a man cursed with a reptilian form, is one of these victims, haunted by both his appearance and terrifying nightmares.
Caiman, a hunter who targets magic users, uses his skill with bayonets and his magical immunity to try and regain his human form. Along with his partner, Nikaido, he investigates the hidden, dangerous side of the city known as the Hole, and pieces together the mystery of his past. The next season will follow Caiman as he faces even stronger opponents in his ongoing search for a way to return to normal.
The manga series concluded some time ago and is available in a complete 23-volume set, with English translations available. You can find links to buy physical copies or access digital versions on the Viz Media website. As for the anime, Season 2 will be shown on both Crunchyroll and Netflix. New episodes will be added weekly to both platforms starting April 1st, 2026.
