6 Years Later, MAPPA’s Wildest Anime Confirms Major Plans for Season 2 Premiere With First Look

I’ve been following the anime world closely, and it’s exciting to see some favorites returning! MAPPA’s really popular series, which first aired six years ago, is getting a brand new season this April, and it sounds like they’re planning something big for the premiere. As we head into the Spring 2026 anime season, there’s a lot to look forward to – both new shows and returning ones. While there will be plenty of fresh content, this particular series is one fans have been eagerly anticipating for a long time.

Q Hayashida’s Dorohedoro anime originally premiered during the difficult early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, but quickly became popular with fans. The unique and gritty fantasy series was highly anticipated from Studio MAPPA, and after a six-year wait, a second season is on its way! The comeback will be a big event, starting with multiple episodes, and you can get a first look at some images below.

When Does Dorohedoro Season 2 Premiere?

The second season of Dorohedoro is set to premiere on April 1st as part of the Spring 2026 anime lineup. The season will kick off with three episodes, and will be available worldwide on streaming services like Netflix and Crunchyroll. To celebrate, the original manga creator, Q Hayashida, is also bringing back the manga series after its conclusion, making this a major event for fans.

Season 2 of Dorohedoro will have the same team behind the scenes as Season 1. Yuichiro Hayashi will direct the new episodes at studio MAPPA, and Hiroshi Seko is writing the scripts. Tomohiro Kishi is responsible for character design, while (K)NoW_Name and Fairy_gone are composing the music. (K)NoW_Name will also perform both the opening theme, “Zettai Must Danmen,” and the ending theme, “Return To Head.”

What’s New for Dorohedoro Season 2?

Season 2 of Dorohedoro will bring back the original voice actors, including Wataru Takagi as Caiman, Reina Kondou as Nikaido, Kenyu Horiuchi as En, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Shin, Yu Kobayashi as Noi, Miyu Tomiya as Ebisu, and Kengo Takahashi as Fujita. Several new actors are joining the cast: Koki Uchiyama will voice Dokuga, Daiki Hamano will play Tetsujo, Yuichi Koshimura will be Saji, Katsuhito Nomura will voice Ton, Atsushi Imaruoka will play Ushishimada, and Sara Matsumoto will voice Natsuki.

When this dark fantasy anime first came out in 2020, it was a standout hit during a quiet period for new releases due to the pandemic. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the second season, and with its release scheduled during a busy Spring 2026 anime season, many hope the three-episode premiere will be just as impactful as the original debut.
