I’m so excited to hear they’re remaking one of my all-time favorite movies from the 50s! And it’s being written by Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan – the brilliant duo behind KPop Demon Hunters, which I absolutely loved! To top it all off, they’re working with Tim Burton, so I just know it’s going to be something truly special – both deeply moving and visually gorgeous. I can’t wait!
Warner Bros. has hired the writing team to develop a screenplay for Tim Burton’s version of the 1958 film, Attack of the Fifty-Foot Woman. The story follows a wealthy woman, recently released from a mental institution, who becomes a giantess while confronting her unfaithful husband and his lover. Warner Bros. has been considering a remake since 2024, and at one point, Gillian Flynn, the author of Gone Girl, was working on the script.
This Remake Certainly Has Potential Thanks to Jimenez and McMachen

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the creators of the upcoming film shared their inspiration: a fifty-foot woman taking revenge on a man who wronged her – a concept they believe will resonate with many viewers. Margot Robbie is reportedly set to star in the title role, which is great news for Warner Bros. as it allows them to collaborate with Robbie again after the success of Barbie. While some question whether Tim Burton is the right director for a story about female anger, the film’s writers are known for their complex and thoughtful storytelling in KPop Demon Hunters, suggesting the project is in capable hands.
This writing team is currently working on the film A Really Bad Person, produced by Legendary Features, and a new queer western. They also write and co-produce the Apple+ TV show Brothers, which stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, and the Ren and Stimpy reboot for Paramount+ and Comedy Central. Plus, their movie KPop Demon Hunters continues to receive widespread acclaim – it’s officially Netflix’s most-watched film ever and has earned nominations for 3 Golden Globes, 10 Annie Awards, and 5 Grammys. It recently won the award for best original song at the Critics’ Choice Awards.
