Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga.
The Jujutsu Kaisen manga finished its run last year, ending on a somewhat sad note and leaving many fans with questions. One of the most puzzling parts was Yuji’s Domain Expansion, a powerful technique he used against Ryomen Sukuna during their final battle. The intense and lengthy fight against the King of Curses required all of the series’ strongest sorcerers to team up and try to defeat him. As the main character, Yuji was central to the conflict, having gained new abilities to prepare for what would be his toughest fight. Towards the end of the manga, fans were surprised to see him use Domain Expansion, but the series never explained how this ability actually works.
With the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo manga now in its final arc, the author, Akutami, may finally reveal the full extent of Yuji’s incredible power. This sequel series, which began in September 2025—a year after the original story concluded—is illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki and set in Tokyo 68 years later. While it primarily follows new characters, there’s a good chance Yuji, who somehow survived for so long, will return.
Yuji Might Join The Final Battle in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

Chapter 265 of Jujutsu Kaisen shows Yuji sharing memories of his childhood with Sukuna. This happens right after Yuji activates his Domain Expansion, but the story doesn’t yet reveal how it functions – only that it’s connected to him mastering the Shrine technique. Currently, Yuji exists in a state called Modulo, where he doesn’t age, due to consuming cursed objects during his battle with Sukuna. Distraught by the thought of his friends aging and eventually passing away, he ultimately cut ties with them and went into seclusion.
The sorcerers are facing a huge threat from the Simurians, which is why they can’t reach Yuji. He’s their best hope against Dabura and his allies, but Yuka Okkotsu has stepped up to fight instead. Despite being sick, she’s battling Dabura using Mahoraga and her Ten Shadows Technique. Even with her strongest move, winning won’t be easy given how powerful Dabura is. If the Simurians win this fight, the entire world of Jujutsu will suffer greatly.
If cursed spirits are allowed to roam unchecked, Tokyo will be overrun, endangering millions of people. Because of this, Yuji Itadori might reappear later in the story. If he does join the fight, he could potentially use his powerful Domain Expansion technique. Though it hasn’t been officially confirmed, the creator, Modulo, has repeatedly hinted at Yuji’s significant role in the final battle, making it likely he will be important.
Yuji’s Domain Expansion Deserves a Proper Explanation

Domain Expansion is the most powerful technique available to Jujutsu sorcerers, representing the peak of their abilities. It’s incredibly difficult to master, requiring exceptional talent – even strong sorcerers like Hajime Kashimo, Aoi Todo, and Kento Nanami never managed to achieve it. Remarkably, Yuji Itadori unlocked this ability during his first year at Jujutsu High, while preparing for the battle between Gojo and Sukuna. Since consuming Sukuna’s first finger, fans have seen Yuji steadily grow in power.
He consistently overcomes obstacles, becoming stronger with each fight and developing his magical abilities. However, the manga didn’t fully explain his most powerful technique. This technique, called a Domain Expansion, isn’t just a simple power boost; it reveals a sorcerer’s personality, values, and inner self. A good example is Sukuna, whose technique showcases his immense pride and overwhelming strength.
The shrine within his territory reflects his identity as a god of destruction, symbolized by the skulls adorning it. Meanwhile, Yuji grapples with finding himself throughout the story, and giving him a defined Domain Expansion could offer a satisfying resolution to his character arc. The author may have deliberately omitted it to prioritize other plot points. However, leaving Yuji’s Domain Expansion unexplained felt unsatisfying as the main character’s conclusion, though a potential sequel could address this.
