7 Anime Characters Who Could Beat Darkseid

Darkseid is a truly terrifying villain, considered the ultimate tyrant in the DC Universe. As the ruler of the planet Apokolips and the very essence of evil, his power goes beyond the physical world, making him incredibly difficult to defeat through normal means.

He doesn’t actually exist within our normal understanding of time and space; his real form is located in a higher dimension. When people encounter him, they’re usually fighting copies, or avatars, rather than the being himself. Even these avatars are incredibly powerful, possessing a destructive energy called the Omega Effect that can obliterate opponents, warp reality, and imprison souls. Even the most powerful characters in anime would have a difficult time defeating something that isn’t limited by the usual laws of life and death.

7. Ryuk (Death Note)

In the anime Death Note, the Shinigami Ryuk follows a different set of rules than humans, operating outside of our understanding of physics, time, or any higher power. The Death Note itself grants the power to kill anyone whose name and face are known, and Ryuk, as the original owner, has complete and unlimited control over it. If the Death Note identifies Darkseid’s physical form as a valid target, it would be instantly fatal. Even if Darkseid’s true form remains in his home dimension, destroying his avatar would strip him of all power in our world, effectively defeating him.

6. Lelouch vi Britannia (Code Geass)

Lelouch, also known as Zero, has a special ability called Geass, which lets him force anyone to obey a single command with just a look. While he seems completely outmatched by the incredibly powerful Darkseid – who controls universes and even life itself – the interesting part is how they clash ideologically. Darkseid’s main weakness is his need to control everything and eliminate free will. Lelouch, on the other hand, achieved victory not by taking power, but by sacrificing himself to liberate others. He represents the power of defiance against overwhelming oppression. Therefore, Lelouch might be able to defeat Darkseid not through a physical fight, but by challenging his very beliefs.

5. Anos Voldigoad (The Misfit of Demon King Academy)

Anos isn’t just physically strong; he controls incredibly complex forces like reincarnation, fate, dimensions, and even existence itself. He’s easily broken spells that warp time and space, brought people (and himself) back from complete annihilation, and canceled out attacks that could rewrite reality. If his power continues to grow without limit, as it seems to, he could potentially defeat or even destroy Darkseid’s physical form by attacking the core idea of what Darkseid is. His abilities aren’t limited by the rules of the DC universe. However, defeating the true Darkseid – the fundamental concept behind all his forms – would require Anos to overcome even the limits of what concepts mean across all universes. It wouldn’t be an easy victory, but Anos’s incredible feats put him among the very few anime characters capable of even competing.

4. Zeno (Dragon Ball Super)

In the world of Dragon Ball, Zeno is the most powerful being in existence, ruling over the entire multiverse. Although he appears as a child and acts innocently, Zeno possesses the terrifying ability to instantly erase anything – universes, timelines, even gods – from existence. This is different from Darkseid, whose power relies on his connections to other realms. Zeno’s power is complete and immediate. Some might think Zeno’s simple way of thinking could be a weakness, allowing Darkseid, a brilliant strategist who often outsmarts others, to manipulate him. However, Zeno’s simplicity is actually what makes him so dangerous. He doesn’t hesitate or overanalyze – if he sees something as a threat, he simply erases it.

3. Arceus (Pokémon)

Based on established lore from the Pokémon games and anime, Arceus is the creator of Dialga (time), Palkia (space), and Giratina (antimatter), and then stepped back to let them develop on their own. This makes Arceus fundamentally more powerful than even the laws of the universe – it’s the original force behind everything. Arceus has shown the ability to control immense energy, can exist outside of time itself, and is believed to awaken when the universe is threatened. In a fight between Arceus and Darkseid, Arceus would probably win due to its overwhelming power.

2. Saitama (One Punch Man)

I’m completely fascinated by Saitama from One Punch Man! What makes him so amazing isn’t how strong he is, it’s how he breaks all the rules of storytelling. He just doesn’t make sense in the usual way! While characters like Darkseid embody the unstoppable force of evil, Saitama is the embodiment of unbeatable. He instantly kills any drama, any suspense. It doesn’t matter how powerful the villain is, Saitama’s punch always connects, the fight’s over, and he honestly can’t even remember what the fuss was about! It’s brilliantly absurd.

1. Featherine Augustus Aurora (Umineko When They Cry)

Featherine is a powerful witch who sees all of reality as a story. Because of this, she can change, rewrite, or even end any existence if she finds it uninteresting. She’s aware of every fictional world, understanding that everything is a story within a larger story. Instead of directly fighting someone like Darkseid, she can simply alter the narrative itself, effectively erasing him from existence.

Darkseid represents tyranny, but Featherine has the power to essentially rewrite history, erasing him or ensuring his plans succeed peacefully. While this might seem like an unfair advantage when comparing different universes, it’s understandable. Her ability works because, in the world of Umineko, stories and reality are fundamentally the same. Even so, she operates on a higher level than Darkseid. He controls countless universes, but she controls the very stories those universes are built on. Once reality is framed as a story, she has complete control over it.
