Over its 30+ year run, the Power Rangers series has featured many strong villains, and surprisingly, some of the most formidable have been Rangers who turned evil. While a few of these villains eventually joined the good guys, they still caused significant damage as enemies, and some remained evil, nearly defeating the Power Rangers altogether. We’ve compiled a list of the 7 most powerful Evil Power Rangers, ranking them by their strength, starting with those from Power Rangers Dino Thunder.
7. White Dino Ranger (Dino Thunder)

In Dino Thunder, fans met Trent Fernandez-Mercer, the White Dino Ranger, who became the Power Rangers’ primary opponent throughout the season. Although Mesogog was the ultimate villain, Trent, while under his control and powered by the White Dino Gem, posed the biggest threat the Rangers consistently faced. He was a formidable fighter during this time.
Trent, as the White Dino Ranger, was a formidable opponent, even defeating the entire Ranger team – including Tommy Oliver as the Black Dino Ranger. He could overpower even Kira when she was in her Super Dino Mode, and he achieved this without using any special enhancements. Beyond his incredible strength and speed, Trent could also camouflage himself and teleport. He fought using laser arrows and the Drago sword. Though he eventually became a hero, while under the influence of the White Dino Gem, Trent was one of the strongest villains to ever become a Ranger.
6. A-Squad Rangers (S.P.D.)

A major turning point for Power Rangers villains happened during Power Rangers S.P.D. The show revealed that the A-Squad of Space Patrol Delta had turned against the good guys and joined forces with Emperor Gruumm. It was unusual to see Rangers deliberately choose to fight alongside the villain, and this twist led to exciting battles and significantly impacted the B-Squad heroes.
At first, the A-Squad seemed like Space Patrol Delta’s best team – highly skilled and effective, but also very arrogant. After fighting Gruumm’s forces, they turned against S.P.D., attacking their bases and facilities. They even kidnapped Commander Cruger and took him to Gruumm. Although the B-Squad ultimately defeated them, the A-Squad put up a strong fight, even bringing out their own Megazord. They almost won, and that’s why they’re considered one of the most memorable teams.
5. Green Ranger (MMPR)

Tommy Oliver, as the original Green Ranger, is one of the most memorable characters in the entire Power Rangers franchise. Introduced during the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, he quickly became a formidable opponent, pushing the other Rangers to their lowest point in just a few episodes.
He didn’t just break into the Command Center and give Alpha 5 a virus – he cut off communication with Zordon, leaving the Rangers completely unprepared. Then, he challenged their Megazord with his own DragonZord, and to make things worse, he used his inside knowledge of their personal lives to really throw them off balance. For all these reasons, he definitely earns a place on this list.
4. Psycho Rangers (In Space/Lost Galaxy)

As a Power Rangers fan, one of my favorite team-ups involves the Psycho Rangers from In Space and Lost Galaxy. They were originally created by the villain Astronema as basically super-Rangers, designed to take down the existing team. And honestly, they almost succeeded – they were a real challenge! What was really clever was how Astronema specifically tailored each Psycho Ranger’s skills and fighting style to counter their corresponding Power Ranger color. Despite all that, the In Space Rangers still managed to pull through when it really mattered.
However, Lost Galaxy saw Psycho Pink achieve something rare and terrifying. During a battle, she unleashed chaos, and while Kendrix managed to stop the resulting storm, she tragically died in the process. This made Psycho Pink – and the Psycho Rangers – the first to ever kill a Power Ranger, cementing their place as some of the most dangerous and feared enemies the Rangers have faced.
3. Spa’ark The Death Ranger (BOOM! Studios Comics)

As we move into the highest power levels in Power Rangers, Spa’ark, also known as the Death Ranger, stands out as significantly more powerful than even the Psycho Rangers. First appearing in issue #20 of the BOOM! Studios comic series, Spa’ark quickly established himself as a strong enemy for the Omega Rangers and played a key role in the series’ ultimate storyline.
Spa’ark is a particularly tragic villain, and his descent into darkness is truly heartbreaking. He’s incredibly powerful, able to raise and control the dead as the Death Ranger. Throughout the series, he also demonstrates the ability to take over other people’s bodies, even possessing multiple Omega Rangers. His corrupted link to the Morphin Grid gives him a unique advantage – he can see everything about anyone else connected to it, and he can communicate with spirits. On top of all that, he possesses the enhanced strength, speed, and stamina common to Power Rangers. He proved to be a formidable and challenging enemy for the Rangers.
2. Rita Repulsa (2017 Reboot)

Coming in at number two is a memorable character from the Power Rangers universe: Rita Repulsa, specifically as portrayed in the 2017 reboot film. Played by Elizabeth Banks, this version of Rita has a surprising backstory – she was originally the Green Ranger who turned against her team, which at the time included Zordon as the Red Ranger.
This Rita is a much more menacing and powerful villain than her original TV series counterpart. She immediately demonstrates her ruthlessness by seemingly killing someone, and then performs bizarre acts like consuming and regurgitating gold to rebuild her staff. She effortlessly defeats the Power Rangers, even creating powerful, Golem-like Putties as backup, though she barely needs them. All of this happens shortly after she awakens from a coma, making her an incredibly formidable enemy – easily deserving of her spot as number two on this list.
1. Lord Drakkon (BOOM! Studios Comics)

Topping this list is a villain who originated not in television, but in comic books: Lord Drakkon. It might seem strange to include two versions of the same character, Tommy, but these two are very different, especially considering the amount of destruction they caused and their overall effect on the Power Rangers story.
Lord Drakkon is an alternate version of Tommy who, instead of becoming a Power Ranger, sided with Rita Repulsa and aimed to conquer the world. He ultimately defeated and killed Rita, absorbing her power along with his own Green Ranger abilities, making him incredibly powerful. He also built an army by defeating the Rangers of his world and stealing their Power Coins – a battle that tragically resulted in one Ranger’s death.
Drakkon’s plan was to take over the universe by capturing Power Rangers, stealing their transforming devices, and using them to become incredibly powerful. It took the combined strength of Rangers from different realities and time periods to finally defeat him. Even when weakened, Drakkon remained a serious threat, making him the most dangerous villainous Ranger of all time.
