Magic has always been a significant element within the Marvel Universe. As one of the most potent forces in comics, it’s been used to explain how characters gain powers, overcome challenges, and even create entirely new worlds and storylines. This opens up possibilities for our favorite heroes that wouldn’t otherwise exist, and it’s the foundation for some of Marvel’s most compelling characters and stories.
Doctor Strange is famous for his magic, but Marvel has a lot of other fascinating and powerful magic users. Some are even more powerful than him, while others are interesting because of their unique role in the magical world. Here are seven of the best overall.
7) Jericho Drumm/Brother Voodoo

Brother Voodoo, also known as Doctor Voodoo, is one of Marvel’s most compelling and magically gifted characters. Born in Haiti, Jericho Drumm returns to his homeland after working as a psychologist in the U.S. to find his brother, Daniel, a village spiritual leader, is near death. Jericho stays in Haiti to take his brother’s place, and ultimately becomes an even more skilled magic user.
Brother Voodoo is a very skilled magic user with a wide range of abilities. He’s incredibly resilient to pain, can manipulate fire, and even project his spirit outside of his body. He also has the unique power to call upon the spirit of his brother, which enhances his own strength. At one time, he was even recognized as the Sorcerer Supreme.
6) Clea

Clea, the niece of Dormammu, is one of Marvel’s most fascinating magic users. Beyond her magical abilities, she’s incredibly strong, can fly, and is very durable – making her a formidable hero. She’s even ruled the Dark Dimension at times and has also held the title of Sorcerer Supreme.
Clea has always been closely connected to Doctor Strange, starting as his first ally when he faced challenges in the Dark Dimension. Their relationship grew over time, evolving from magical partnership to romance and eventually marriage. Despite her strong connection to Strange, Clea is a remarkably powerful sorceress and a compelling character in her own right.
5) Enchantress

In the Marvel Universe, Enchantress is a powerful magic user, especially when it comes to Asgardian lore. Also known as Amora, she’s less about flashy spells and more about using her powers to subtly influence and control people – mind control is her specialty.
Over the years, Enchantress has collaborated with many heroes and villains, and been part of several teams. She was one of the original members of the Masters of Evil, joined Magneto’s group during the AXIS event, and served on Malekith’s Darkk Council.
4) Nico Minoru

Nico Minoru is a relatively new but incredibly skilled magic user in the Marvel Universe. She wields the Staff of One, which allows her to cast almost any spell. Though she first appeared in Runaways, she later became a teacher at Strange Academy, training the next generation of Marvel’s sorcerers.
Nico is a fascinating character because, despite being a very strong magic user, her powers have unique limitations. She can cast nearly any spell using her staff, but each spell can only be used once, forcing her to carefully consider when and how she uses her magic.
3) Wiccan

Wiccan is a magic user who inherited his powers through family. As the reborn son of the Scarlet Witch, he was born with a natural talent for magic. While still young and learning, he’s already incredibly powerful, and his abilities are constantly developing.
Wiccan is a powerful magic user with a talent for creating force fields, teleporting, and altering reality. He can also easily generate energy blasts and lightning. Many believe Wiccan has incredible potential, and some stories suggest he may one day become the Sorcerer Supreme.
2) Doctor Doom

Doctor Doom is considered one of Marvel’s most formidable villains, and he’s also an exceptionally skilled magic user. What sets him apart is his incredible intelligence, allowing him to seamlessly blend magic and technology. This combination makes him one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe and a truly dangerous opponent.
Like all magic users, Doctor Doom has a weakness, and his is a significant one. Despite being incredibly powerful, Doom’s excessive pride often leads to his downfall, meaning he frequently sabotages his own success.
1) Scarlet Witch

Okay, let’s talk about Scarlet Witch. She’s not just some run-of-the-mill magic user; she’s genuinely terrifying because she’s born with the ability to warp reality and she’s a skilled sorceress. Seeing her train with Agatha Harkness really unlocked her potential, letting her seamlessly blend those two powers. And honestly, the results are frightening – she can seriously mess with what’s real. Thankfully, she’s grown a lot since the events of ‘House of M,’ but make no mistake, she’s a powerhouse you don’t want to cross.
She’s undoubtedly one of Marvel’s most powerful magic users, and is poised to become the next Sorcerer Supreme.
