7 Bold Predictions For The DCU In 2026

The new DC Universe is generating a lot of excitement as it moves towards 2026. 2025 marked its official start with the release of James Gunn’s Superman, which introduced audiences to David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel, along with other important DC characters. Superman laid the groundwork for several upcoming DC projects, some of which were hinted at and others formally announced by the heads of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran. Although the DC Universe hasn’t yet reached the same level of success as Marvel’s MCU, it’s quickly becoming a major contender for box office success.

2026 is set to be a huge year for the new DC Universe, marking its first full year of films and stories. We’re expecting to see individual movies for many DC characters, with release dates announced throughout the next year. Beyond that, we can also anticipate news about future projects, the introduction of new characters and storylines, and important decisions that will define the direction of the franchise. Here are 7 predictions about what we might see in the DCU in 2026.

7) Clayface Will Reveal The DCU’s Batman

We don’t know much about Batman in the new DC Universe yet, but that should change by 2026. The upcoming Clayface movie, scheduled for release in September 2026, will likely give fans their first glimpse of this new version of the Dark Knight. It’s unlikely we’ll see him in any other projects before then, and because Clayface is one of Batman’s enemies, it’s possible Batman might even make a small appearance in the film.

6) The Brave & The Bold Will Be 2026’s Next Big DCU Release

With no firm release date announced for Batman: The Brave and the Bold, it’s currently expected to come out no earlier than 2027. However, we believe an official announcement about the film will be made in 2026. Given Batman’s huge global popularity and importance to the DC Universe, it’s likely to be the next DC movie to receive a confirmed release date.

5) Xolo Maridueña Will Return (& Sooner Than Expected)

While Blue Beetle was initially expected to make a brief appearance in season two of Peacemaker, that didn’t happen. However, we think he might show up in the DC Universe sooner rather than later. James Gunn has hinted that Xolo Maridueña will reprise his role as Blue Beetle in the new DC franchise. With a Booster Gold series currently being developed, Blue Beetle could return as early as 2026, potentially teaming up with his superhero friend Booster Gold.

4) Supergirl Will Play A Crucial Role In Shaping The DCU

The next DC movie coming out is Supergirl, and it will follow up on her brief appearance in Superman. As a key new character, Supergirl will likely be central to expanding the DC Universe. The film will introduce several new locations and characters, potentially setting the stage for the franchise’s direction in 2026.

3) A Titans Reunion Could Be Announced

Though it didn’t achieve widespread popularity, the Titans TV series is considered a hidden gem among recent DC adaptations. Many fans were disappointed when it ended, but there’s hope for a continuation. The upcoming Teen Titans movie planned for the DC Universe could potentially serve as a follow-up to the show, and an announcement about this possibility might come as early as 2026. While this is currently speculation, it’s a scenario many fans are hoping for.

2) Wonder Woman’s Future Will Be Revealed

Wonder Woman is a legendary DC character who’s been a cornerstone of their comic books for many years. As one of DC’s strongest heroes, she’s expected to play a major role in the developing DC Universe. We believe 2026 will bring news about her future in the DCU, including casting announcements and details about her next solo film or series.

1) The Batman Part II Will be Announced As Part Of The DCU

After a long wait, production on The Batman Part II is finally underway, and we’re forecasting its significance for the DC Universe in 2026. Although the movie probably won’t be released until 2027 or beyond, 2026 could be when Robert Pattinson’s Batman officially joins the DCU. It’s still uncertain, but it’s a real possibility that this could happen next year.
