He’s more than just a powerful being; he’s a complete package that makes him incredibly formidable. Even when defeated, Thanos leaves a lasting impact, demonstrating just how destructive he can be. He’s a truly unparalleled foe in the Marvel Universe, capable of overcoming almost any obstacle.
Thanos is a powerful threat in any universe, even the DC Multiverse. However, he wouldn’t be the biggest danger there – several DC villains are powerful enough to defeat him. Here are seven who could easily overcome Thanos.
7) Doomsday
Thanos, in the comic books, is famously afraid of the Hulk because he knows the Hulk will eventually win any prolonged fight. The DC Universe has a similar character, Doomsday, who is arguably even more dangerous. Doomsday has actually defeated Superman, and has proven to be a formidable opponent for all other heroes and villains he’s encountered. Unlike the Hulk, Doomsday doesn’t have any limitations, making him a greater threat. He would quickly overwhelm Thanos – who isn’t as strong as Superman – and his immense power and fury would ultimately defeat the Mad Titan.
6) Brainiac
Brainiac is widely considered the smartest villain in the DC Universe. This Coluan cyborg has appeared in many different versions, consistently using his incredible intelligence and advanced technology to battle Superman and his team. Although Thanos has certain strengths, Brainiac is far more intelligent. Brainiac wouldn’t rush into a direct fight with Thanos; instead, he’d use drones to gather information and analyze his opponent’s weaknesses. With this knowledge, the brilliant villain would develop a plan to defeat him. While Brainiac might lose in a straight-up physical fight, he’d avoid that scenario altogether by relying on strategy.
5) The Anti-Monitor
The Anti-Monitor is far more powerful than Thanos. This incredibly destructive being attempted to wipe out the entire multiverse and caused widespread devastation. He’s responsible for the most deaths in DC Comics history and could easily defeat even the strongest Kryptonians from before the *Crisis*, who were capable of moving planets and time travel. That level of power is beyond anything Thanos can handle, and that’s not even considering the Anti-Monitor’s armies of Shadow Demons, the Weaponeers of Qward, and his anti-matter weaponry. It took heroes from five different universes to finally defeat him during the *Crisis on Infinite Earths* event, proving that Thanos alone wouldn’t stand a chance.
4) Zoom
Zoom appears similar to the Reverse Flash, but unlike that villain, he doesn’t rely on super speed. Instead, Zoom gained the ability to manipulate time itself after an accident involving the Flash’s time-traveling equipment. He doesn’t run quickly; he accelerates time around him. While Thanos has many strengths, Zoom’s time control abilities will make this a difficult battle. Thanos is intelligent and resourceful, but countering Zoom’s powers would require technology he likely can’t acquire quickly enough. Though Thanos might eventually find a solution with enough time and preparation, Zoom won’t give him that opportunity.
3) Eclipso
Eclipso is an incredibly powerful villain, and most likely will win this battle. He used to be an angel of wrath, but was banished for taking pleasure in destruction. Later, Darkseid fused him with a powerful diamond called the Heart of Darkness, allowing him to continue spreading darkness. This fight is different from others; Thanos doesn’t have his usual advantages. Although Thanos is a powerful cosmic being, he can’t compete with Eclipso’s ability to warp reality. Even though Eclipso isn’t at his full strength, he’s still too powerful for Thanos, and there’s even a chance Thanos could be possessed, which would be a defeat.
2) Lex Luthor
Lex Luthor is arguably the most brilliant and unpredictable mind on Earth, and that’s what will give him a chance in this fight. Superman’s arch-enemy is famous for devising clever strategies and technology to counter even the most powerful beings, leveling the playing field with his incredible intellect. His advanced armor lets him go toe-to-toe with Superman and his allies, and he’s skilled at finding weaknesses in anyone with superpowers. Luthor wouldn’t rush into a fight with Thanos; he’d carefully analyze his opponent to find a way to win. While Thanos is physically more powerful, he’s no match for Luthor’s intelligence, and that will ultimately be Thanos’s downfall.
1) Darkseid
Darkseid, a supremely powerful and terrifying villain from DC Comics, is often considered the ultimate opponent for Marvel’s Thanos. As the ruler of Apokolips, Darkseid surpasses even Superman in strength and can withstand seemingly fatal blows. His signature Omega Beams are incredibly dangerous, relentlessly tracking their targets and potentially delivering instant death. Simply put, Darkseid is more powerful and resilient than Thanos, and his abilities far exceed those of the Mad Titan.
