7 DC Villains Who Hulk Couldn’t Smash, Ranked

In comic books, the Hulk boasts one of the most impressive win-to-loss ratios. Through the years, his power has grown tremendously. He’s often referred to as the strongest being on Earth and practically possesses infinite strength. The Hulk starts off stronger than most heroes and villains on our planet, and grows even more powerful with increasing anger. On Earth, he is undoubtedly the most feared creature. He has single-handedly defeated the Avengers multiple times. Thor, Hercules, the Prince of Power, have all fallen to him. The X-Men seem insignificant against him, and he managed to break through Onslaught’s psychic armor. Even the Illuminati, a group he later became a part of, were overpowered by him. Thanos fears the Hulk, as in these comics, the Hulk can defeat Thanos in a direct confrontation. Essentially, the Hulk is almost invincible.

Marvel Comics and DC Comics are teaming up once more, an event that The Hulk has previous experience with. In one of the initial crossovers many years ago, he encountered – and was defeated by, due to a knockout gas – Batman. As of now, The Hulk hasn’t been included in any upcoming crossover, but given his popularity, it won’t be long before we see him again. If The Hulk were to make an appearance in the DC Universe, he could wreak havoc among numerous heroes and villains. However, these seven villains might have a chance of defeating The Hulk.

7) Eclipso

Eclipsio is one of the deadliest villains within the DC Multiverse. Originally, he was the embodiment of God’s Wrath, responsible for causing the Great Flood, and took pleasure in killing humans. However, God disapproved of his actions and removed him from his role, imprisoning him within a black diamond known as the Heart of Darkness. Since then, several individuals have served as Eclipsio’s hosts.

Eclipsio possesses extraordinary abilities, including the power to alter reality, wield godly magic, demonstrate superhuman strength, and boast invulnerability. He has the ability to take control of people and becomes even more powerful during an eclipse. In combat, Eclipsio can hold his own against the Justice League and has defeated numerous highly powerful heroes. A battle between Eclipsio and the Hulk would likely result in a victory for Eclipsio, as his reality-altering powers could potentially end the Hulk or he could physically overpower him. Furthermore, Eclipsio might even gain control of the Hulk’s mind and use him as a weapon against other heroes. Although the Hulk is formidable, Eclipsio operates on an entirely different level compared to the Green Goliath.

6) Doomsday

Doomsday poses a significant threat to Superman and serves as a formidable adversary for the Hulk. Known for its unrelenting force of destruction, Doomsday’s strength is believed to surpass that of Superman, making it nearly indestructible with bony spikes capable of piercing even Superman’s invulnerable skin. Moreover, once defeated, Doomsday adapts to prevent future defeats, rendering traditional methods of elimination ineffective.

In the current form, Doomsday has also acquired Time Trapper powers, giving it control over time. Facing off against Doomsday is essentially two powerful creatures causing widespread destruction with little regard for their surroundings. While the Hulk’s ability to grow stronger allows him to inflict damage on Doomsday, he starts at a level of strength significantly higher than the Hulk and does not hold back in his destructive rampage.

In comic books, this battle would undoubtedly be an exciting spectacle; however, given its superior strength and adaptability, Doomsday is likely to easily defeat the Hulk.

5) Parasite

In my opinion, “Parasite” is not your typical run-of-the-mill villain; it’s more like a formidable foe even capable of challenging the mighty Superman. The title itself hints at its unique ability – to siphon powers from any adversary it encounters. What sets Parasite apart is that it doesn’t need direct contact to absorb power, making anyone within its vicinity potentially vulnerable.

The Hulk would likely be a dream opponent for the Parasite. With each sip of the Hulk’s power, the Parasite would grow stronger, while the Hulk would weaken. There’s even a possibility that the Parasite could drain all of the Hulk’s power, leaving it far more powerful than before.

However, it’s important to note that the indestructible might of the Hulk might be too much for the Parasite to handle, but before we ever reach that point, the Parasite would have already drained enough power from the Hulk to knock him unconscious. It’s a fascinating matchup between these two powerful characters, and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds!

4) Brainiac

Superman considers Brainiac one of his most formidable foes. Among the entities in the DC Multiverse, only a select few can truly intimidate Superman, and Brainiac ranks at the very top. With an intelligence level of 12, Brainiac is likely among the smartest beings in the universe. His spaceship is armed with weapons capable of destroying entire solar systems, while his drones possess the strength to challenge even Superman himself.

Brainiac is also known for having comparable physical strength and durability to that of Superman. This puts him ahead of the Hulk in terms of raw power until the Hulk becomes enraged. However, it’s Brainiac’s intellect that truly sets him apart. Over the years, multiple versions of Brainiac have demonstrated their ability to outsmart and overpower various adversaries.

Brainiac never embarks on a mission without his spaceship, which includes a ray capable of shrinking entire cities. Additionally, he has an array of advanced technology, drones, and other resources at his disposal, giving him a significant advantage in any confrontation. Even in a one-on-one fight against the Hulk, Brainiac would likely be able to subdue the green giant before he reaches peak strength.

3) Reverse Flash

The Reverse Flash is an extraordinary villain and a formidable foe for The Flash, particularly Barry Allen. Originally from the 25th century, Eobard Thawne was a fanatic admirer of The Flash and, utilizing futuristic technology, he developed powers identical to those of his idol. However, his obsession soon turned into an unhealthy fixation, leading him to desire the destruction of the man he once idolized.

Unlike other speedsters in the DC universe, The Reverse Flash draws his powers from the Negative Speed Force rather than the Speed Force itself. This allows him to manipulate time, move faster than light, and harness black lightning that can even kill other speedsters with a single touch. Even the Hulk’s immense strength is no match for The Reverse Flash’s incredible speed.

Typically, The Reverse Flash refrains from using his full potential against Barry Allen to prolong his suffering, but if he were to face the Hulk, he likely wouldn’t hold back. In fact, The Reverse Flash can employ an attack known as the infinite mass punch, which would result in a swift and devastating defeat for the Hulk, making it the shortest fight of his life.

2) General Zod

Many people believe the Hulk could overpower Superman in a fight, but this is highly unlikely. Superman’s diverse abilities make him significantly stronger than the Hulk, and although the Hulk might grow stronger than Superman, Superman would triumph before that point. Therefore, I am firmly convinced that General Zod would easily conquer the Hulk. Like Superman, Zod possesses the same powers at an equivalent level, but he also excels in combat skills. As Krypton’s top soldier, Zod is a superior tactician compared to the Hulk. He knows how to effectively utilize his powers, and his combination of strength, speed, and flight will enable him to obliterate the Hulk. I find it doubtful that a battle between Superman and the Hulk would be as intriguing as one featuring Zod. This is because Zod fights without restraint, whereas Superman often holds back. The Hulk might not respond quickly enough when Zod goes into overdrive, making him no match for Zod’s advanced fighting abilities. In conclusion, I believe Zod outclasses the Hulk and would handily defeat the Jade Giant.

1) Darkseid

In the expansive DC Universe, Darkseid holds the title of its most formidable antagonist. Nicknamed the God of Evil, he governs Apokolips and possesses such immense power that he could overpower virtually any Earth-based hero in a one-on-one battle. His clashes with Superman serve as testament to his extraordinary might. Darkseid outmatches Superman in strength, and his Omega Effect eyebeams constitute one of the deadliest attacks in comics. These beams can zero in on their target regardless of location and have a near-instantaneous killing effect on anyone unfortunate enough to face them. Subduing Darkseid requires advanced technology and extensive knowledge about him. The Hulk has little chance against Darkseid, though the Omega Effect may not be able to eliminate the Hulk with a single blast. Instead, it’s more likely that the Hulk will succumb to Darkseid before dealing a decisive blow himself. Following their confrontation, Darkseid would probably aim to seize control of the Hulk as a potent weapon – an honorable conquest, indeed.
