7 Gamma-Powered Marvel Characters Still Missing From the MCU

Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk, hasn’t always gotten the attention he deserves in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even though he was the star of the second Marvel movie ever made, he’s spent over ten years playing a supporting role to other heroes. While problems with movie rights seem to be the reason, it’s still unfair to treat one of the original Avengers this way. Thankfully, things have been looking up for Banner recently. He plays a key role in the *She-Hulk: Attorney at Law* series, guiding his cousin Jennifer Walters as she adjusts to life as a Hulk. The show also introduces Skaar, Hulk’s son, hinting that we’ll see more of Hulk and his family in future stories.

While helping the Hulk is one path, other characters with gamma-based powers have also found opportunities in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Leader, Red Hulk, and Abomination all appeared in other projects after being introduced in *The Incredible Hulk*, and it’s likely Marvel Studios will introduce more gamma-powered heroes and villains soon. Here are seven such characters who haven’t yet made an appearance in the MCU.

7) Weapon H

The Weapon X program, famous for creating Wolverine and Deadpool, continued even after their creation. Clayton Cortez, while employed by Roxxon, disobeyed orders, leading to his capture by Weapon X. After undergoing experiments, he was transformed into a powerful, monstrous creature with adamantium claws – a combination of the Hulk’s strength and Wolverine’s claws that would certainly make an impact in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

6) Doc Samson

In *The Incredible Hulk*, Bruce Banner struggles to win back Betty Ross, who is now in a relationship with Leonard Samson. Though Samson doesn’t play a large role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he’s a significant character in the comics. Like the Hulk, he gained powers from gamma radiation and dedicated himself to tracking down the Hulk. He’s also worked alongside many well-known heroes, proving he’s more than just a supporting character in the Hulk’s story.

5) Red She-Hulk

Thaddeus Ross’s relentless pursuit of the Hulk has deeply impacted his daughter’s life, both in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the comics. Betty Ross has repeatedly suffered the consequences of gamma radiation exposure. The most striking example is when she’s resurrected as the Red She-Hulk, a version of herself far more prone to anger and violence than she was before.

4) Rick Jones

Bruce Banner has allies like Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but in the comics, Rick Jones is his most important friend. Feeling guilty about the event that turned Banner into the Hulk, Jones dedicates himself to assisting the hero. Despite constantly facing hardship and even transforming into creatures like A-Bomb, Jones ultimately finds redemption by helping Banner and making amends for his past.

3) Amadeus Cho

Bruce Banner generally prefers relying on intelligence over physical strength, so he seeks out brilliant minds to help him. He finds that person in Amadeus Cho, a gifted young man who often gets into difficult situations. While assisting the Hulk, Cho is exposed to gamma radiation, transforming him into a new iteration of the hero. As the Hulk prepares to step down in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Cho is poised to take his place.

2) Lyra

While Skaar is well-known as the Hulk’s son, he isn’t Bruce Banner’s only child. He and Thundra once had a relationship that resulted in Lyra, a powerful warrior who essentially becomes a new She-Hulk. Lyra possesses many of her father’s strengths, but with a unique twist: unlike him, she becomes *weaker* when she gets angrier. Introducing Lyra as Banner’s second child in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be challenging, but it’s still a possibility.

1) Aberration

General Thunderbolt Ross isn’t the only military figure fixated on the Hulk; John Ryker also becomes deeply involved with the hero. When a dying soldier, Rana Phillips, agrees to be experimented on by Ryker, she gains gamma-powered abilities and becomes the Aberration. Though defeated by Lyra, the Aberration’s story could be further explored within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
