7 Great Recent Movies Hidden On Paramount+

Paramount+ is famous for shows created by Taylor Sheridan, including hits like Yellowstone, Landman, Tulsa King, and Mayor of Kingstown. It’s also the only place to stream South Park now that it’s moved from HBO Max. Beyond those popular titles, Paramount+ has a surprisingly good selection of movies – from funny classics like Old School and Tropic Thunder to big action movies like Top Gun: Maverick and Gladiator. But what about the hidden gems? This list focuses on movies you might have missed – either because they’re new, or because they didn’t get much attention when they were released, or maybe just weren’t your usual style, but are definitely worth watching.

The question is, now that you know they’re on Paramount+, will you give them a shot? Let’s dive in.

7) Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have a talent for making smart, funny movies that often take a while to find their audience, as seen with both Game Night and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. They even managed to create a Dungeons & Dragons movie that people who aren’t fans of the game can enjoy.

Honor Among Thieves is similar to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, but with a stronger focus on fantasy. However, its distinctive humor keeps it from feeling like a copy.

6) Scream VI

With the release of Scream 7 almost here, it’s a great time to revisit the previous Scream movies. A good place to start is the latest one, Scream VI, which takes place in a big city.

Radio Silence successfully delivered two suspenseful Scream movies, and while the sixth film isn’t quite as good as their 2022 reboot, it’s still a strong entry in the series. Melissa Barrera really shines in this installment, delivering what many consider the best performance in the entire franchise – she seemed much more at ease in the role. Unfortunately, neither Barrera nor Jenna Ortega will be returning for Scream 7, and the directors, Radio Silence, are also moving on. This makes Scream VI a notable film, offering a chance to appreciate the contributions of both the directors and these two actors to the Scream saga.

5) Fight or Flight

“Fight or Flight” is a standout action movie of 2025, and it’s surprisingly fun – even if you don’t usually enjoy action films. It also confirms what many already suspected: Josh Hartnett has incredible screen presence and can lead any movie successfully.

This movie isn’t groundbreaking, but it’s a fast-paced and engaging thriller. What really stands out is Paul Hartnett’s strong performance – the plot is decent enough, but it’s his acting that you’ll remember.

4) Strange Darling

“Strange Darling” is a brilliantly crafted film with plenty of unexpected turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s truly one of the year’s best movies, in any category, and is best experienced knowing as little as possible beforehand.

Look, Strange Darling really works because the two leads are just perfect. Kyle Gallner is consistently great in these smaller, genre films, and Willa Fitzgerald? Wow. She proved in Reacher how incredibly talented she is, and she brings that same level of commitment to this role. Honestly, she’s one of those actors who completely disappears into a character, and I’m hoping Strange Darling gets her some bigger opportunities – she deserves them.

3) Good Boy

If you loved the spooky and heartfelt vibes of Courage the Cowardly Dog, Good Boy feels like a live-action version of that show. It’s basically a scary story, but with a very sweet and devoted dog as the main character.

The story follows Indy, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, and his owner, Todd, as they move into a haunted house inherited from Todd’s grandfather. Indy takes on the responsibility of protecting Todd from whatever spooky presence lurks within. Having a dog as the main character is a clever idea, and Indy delivers a surprisingly convincing performance – it’s strange to praise a dog’s acting, but he really shines in the role.

2) Babylon

Despite being a box office failure – which wasn’t unexpected considering its large budget, long runtime, and unusual style – the film Babylon is gaining a dedicated fanbase. Notably, acclaimed author Stephen King was very impressed with it.

Babylon feels like a blend of Damien Chazelle’s La La Land and The Great Gatsby, with hints of The Aviator. It’s a story about people who experience a dramatic rise to fame followed by a hard fall, and who often indulge in extravagance and act with arrogance. While the characters’ lifestyles might seem distant or unlikeable, that’s intentional – the film portrays people living large but ultimately feeling empty and isolated despite their wealth and parties.

1) Confess, Fletch

It’s disappointing that Fletch’s Fortune isn’t happening, especially since the team behind Confess, Fletch seemed to understand Gregory McDonald’s books even better than the original 1985 film’s creators. (Let’s forget about Fletch Lives, though – it wasn’t based on a McDonald novel and wasn’t very good.) On a brighter note, it would have been great to see Jon Hamm and John Slattery, both known from Mad Men, work together again.

This McDonald’s Fletch novel, like the others, is a fun and playful adventure, but it doesn’t shy away from serious moments. The main character, Fletch, is the same – always ready with a joke, but a truly skilled investigator when the situation demands it.
