7 Major Anime Sequels Returning in 2026, Ranked

With a fresh year of anime underway and lots of new shows premiering, it’s a good time to look forward to the returning sequels we can expect. Last year was fantastic for anime thanks to many popular shows coming back, and this year looks to be just as strong. While the Winter 2026 season has already launched some highly anticipated continuations, even more sequels are on the horizon.

Lots of new anime will be popular this year, but 2026 will also see the return of several beloved franchises with new seasons. Fans have been waiting for these series to continue, and here are seven upcoming seasons you won’t want to miss.

7). That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 4

Fans of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime have a lot to look forward to! The popular anime is returning this April with a new season, and it’s been announced that the season will be released in five parts. The first two parts will air this year, with a break in between. This season promises to take the story in exciting new directions as the main character continues to build and expand his community. Be sure to check it out this spring!

6). Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2

Fans can look forward to the return of Wistoria: Wand and Sword this April, with a new season promising more exciting battles. Based on the light novels by Fujino Omori – also known for Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? – the anime is back after two years. The story follows Will, a character who was born unable to use magic in a world where magic is commonplace.

He’s relying on his strength and abilities to climb the social ladder and reunite with a remarkably talented childhood friend. The story is about to become much more exciting and action-packed as he strives to reach even greater success, and the second season promises to deliver.

5). Dr. Stone Science Future Part 3

I’m so excited for the return of Dr. Stone Science Future this April! It’s the third and final part of the series, and honestly, the anime has been building to this epic conclusion for a while now. We’ve seen Senku and the Kingdom of Science facing off against a really powerful enemy connected to his past, but there’s still so much more to the story. It turns out Senku has an even bigger goal in this stone world, and these final episodes promise to show just how far he and everyone else are willing to go with their incredible inventions. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

4). Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 3

Fans of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation will be happy to hear that season three arrives this July! It’s been a while since the last episodes aired, and we saw Rudeus grow and become more optimistic. Now, he’s determined to take charge of his destiny as he searches for his friends who were scattered by a teleportation accident. This season will also bring back a familiar face – Eris – who disappeared at the end of season one, and promises to be a moving experience for viewers.

3). The Apothecary Diaries Season 3

Fans won’t have to wait long for more of The Apothecary Diaries! The popular anime, based on the light novels by Natsu Hyuga and Touko Shino, is returning to screens this October. The show has been a major hit, with new seasons released close together, and the third season is continuing that trend with a Fall premiere.

What makes this release special is that The Apothecary Diaries will also be shown in Japanese cinemas this October. The movie features a completely new story, written by Natsu Hyuga, not found in the original novels or the anime series, giving fans even more to look forward to as Maomao and Jinshi’s relationship develops.

2). Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Final Part – The Calamity

The final episodes of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War are coming this July! Ichigo Kurosaki and his friends will finally face Yhwach’s powerful forces in the ultimate battle. Fans can expect exciting new fights, transformations, and moments they’ve anticipated for almost twenty years, faithfully adapted from Tite Kubo’s original manga.

Just like past seasons, the final part of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will include new scenes not found in the original manga. With this being the last anime installment, fans can expect a potentially significant and expanded ending.

1). Black Clover Season 2

Everyone is anticipating the return of Black Clover as one of the biggest anime comebacks of the year. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced, a new season is confirmed after a five-year hiatus. Interestingly, this return is happening as the Black Clover manga is nearing its conclusion, and the anime will continue the story from where it left off years ago.

Even before reaching the climactic final battles, the series has a lot of story to tell, which means fans have much to anticipate. Expect spectacular and action-packed moments as Black Clover quickly gains momentum.
