7 Mario Kart Courses That NEED To Be In Mario Kart 9!

After the grand unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2, gaming enthusiasts got their first glimpse at the upcoming game, Mario Kart 9. For those familiar with Nintendo’s racing games, regardless of which title they’ve played, it’s a timeless favorite. Across its long history, over 170 unique tracks have been developed for the series, ranging from classic Mario titles to more recent releases. The question on everyone’s mind is: will Mario Kart 9 introduce a new original course or perhaps revisit some iconic tracks from previous games?

In the game Mario Kart 8 , more than half of the tracks created for the series are included, leaving some doubt as to whether these tracks will reappear in the next version. However, the enjoyment each track provides is indisputable, which brings us to our main topic: seven outstanding Mario Kart courses that should be part of Mario Kart 9. Currently, there are 170 (now 171) tracks, and here are some top picks.

Coconut Mall

Appearance(s): Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Kart Tour

For all you enthusiasts of Mario Kart, let’s embark on a shopping spree! This famous course made its debut in the Flower Cup of Mario Kart Wii and has since become a staple within the game series. The pleasure of cruising through Coconut Mall is indescribable, from navigating up the escalators to being serenaded by the calming tunes that accompany the course. With Mario Kart 9 set to accommodate as many as 24 players, maybe it’s time for the mall to consider an expansion of its shopping center!

Bowser’s Castle

Appearance(s): Every Mario Kart game

In every iteration of Mario Kart, Bowser’s Castle has made an appearance. First introduced in Super Mario Kart in 1992, it started as just a track with molten sides, but over time, it transformed into a full-fledged castle. The latest rendition of this iconic track can be found in the Special Cup of Mario Kart 8 and takes inspiration from Super Mario 3D Land. It would be intriguing to see how the castle might change with the arrival of Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

Maka Wuhu

Appearance(s): Mario Kart 7

Although there haven’t been any new Wii Sports titles recently, let me propose an intriguing idea. In Mario Kart 7, a course named Maka Wuhu was presented in the Star Cup, inspired by Wuhu Island from Wii Sports Resort. What makes this track unique is that it doesn’t involve laps and instead is split into three distinct sections. Introducing something unconventional to the Mario Kart series could be thrilling. As Mario Kart didn’t have anti-gravity courses back then, incorporating a course that climbs Wuhu Mountain might be well-received (be mindful of the paragliding Miis).

This revised version attempts to maintain the original meaning while using simpler and more conversational language.

Toad’s Factory

Appearance(s): Mario Kart Wii

As a dedicated gamer, stepping into the vibrant world of Mario Kart once more, I find myself reminiscing about one particular gem – Toad’s Factory from Mario Kart Wii. This was the grand finale for the Mushroom Cup, where Item Boxes dotted the track like stars in the night sky. It’s been a while since we’ve seen this innovative course grace our screens, as it hasn’t reappeared in subsequent games yet.

I think it’s high time we revisit Toad’s Factory and put some of the fresh new items to the test, or maybe even delve into the design process behind these karts themselves. After all, what better way to celebrate Mario Kart’s rich history than by revisiting its forgotten classics?

Rainbow Road

Appearance(s): Every Mario Kart game

Just like Bowser’s Castle, Rainbow Road has graced every version of the Mario Kart series. It’s one of the most beloved tracks and a cornerstone of the entire franchise, having been featured in “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” With its vibrant design, the track is always a fan favorite, even if you find yourself frequently soaring off the course ( I can’t be the only one, right?). It’s almost certain that this course will reappear in Mario Kart 9, but it will be intriguing to observe how they choose to update it, as there have been numerous versions throughout the years.

Waluigi Pinball

Appearance(s): Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart Tour, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

As a gamer, I find that Rainbow Road can be tricky for those who need guardrails while driving. On the flip side, Waluigi Pinball is a breeze. This pinball-style racing course made its debut as the third track of the Flower Cup in Mario Kart DS and has since been revamped in Mario Kart Tour and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, making it even more intriguing to explore where this track takes us next in Mario Kart 9.

Wario’s Gold Mine

Appearance(s): Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 8, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Among my preferred courses lies Wario’s Gold Mine, not because it lacks stability, but due to its exhilarating roller coaster-like gameplay. This track was initially featured in the Flower Cup of Mario Kart Wii, and it reappears now as part of the Triforce Cup in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Since the track has enough space for expansion, players can expect plenty of fun (though there might be less room to navigate within the cave). For nostalgic fans seeking a return to the chaotic gameplay that not all Mario Kart courses offer, this classic track is bound to satisfy.
