7 MCU Character Team-Ups That Absolutely Must Happen in Avengers: Doomsday

With the release of Avengers: Doomsday just around the corner, I’m really excited about the potential for new team-ups between beloved Marvel characters. Seeing these characters interact is always a highlight of crossover events, and Doomsday promises more of these interactions than ever before. The film brings together characters who’ve never shared the screen before, and this might be our only chance to see seven specific team-ups play out.

While many actors have been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, fans suspect the full cast hasn’t been revealed yet. Rumors suggest appearances by characters like Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, Deadpool, Wolverine, and Scarlet Witch, but these are likely being kept secret. This discussion focuses on potential interactions between characters already announced for the film, and even with that limited scope, there are many exciting possibilities.

7) Bucky Barnes & Shuri

Although Bucky and Shuri likely won’t be the focus of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, I’m hoping the film will still give their reunion some attention. After Captain America: Civil War, Bucky went to Wakanda to heal and stay hidden. We saw him become the White Wolf in a scene after the credits of Black Panther, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showed he still has ties to Wakanda. However, those connections never felt fully explored, so it would be great to see Bucky and Shuri reconnect on screen.

6) Mister Fantastic & Shuri

Besides Bucky, a meeting between Shuri and Mister Fantastic is also highly anticipated. Shuri is considered the most brilliant mind in her universe (Earth-616), while Reed Richards holds that title in his (Earth-828). Their combined intelligence will likely be crucial for resolving the coming multiversal issues. The latest trailer for Avengers: Doomsday shows Ben Grimm in Wakanda speaking with Shuri, strongly suggesting this interaction will happen.

5) Red Guardian & Steve Rogers

Red Guardian provides comic relief within the New Avengers, largely because he’s a clear imitation of Captain America from the Soviet Union. He both admires Steve Rogers and insists he’s superior, though he hasn’t proven it. Now that Chris Evans has returned to the role, a meeting between Steve Rogers and Red Guardian could finally happen, resolving a running gag from the Black Widow movie.

4) Namor & Sue Storm

The relationship between Namor and Sue Storm is one of the most compelling parts of the Fantastic Four stories. They’re often caught in a love triangle with Sue’s husband, Reed, and while the new Doomsday movie likely won’t focus heavily on that, it could still hint at it or lay the groundwork for it to be explored in future films.

3) Steve Rogers & Captain America

As a huge MCU fan, I’m really excited about Sam Wilson taking on the Captain America role and potentially leading the Avengers into whatever comes next – especially with a big threat like Doomsday on the horizon! I keep thinking about how cool it would be if Steve Rogers returned and got to see Sam as Cap – almost like Steve knowing he’d chosen the right successor before he even officially passed the shield. And honestly, a team-up fight with both Captain Americas? Yes, please! Throw in some other super soldiers like Red Guardian and U.S. Agent, and you’ve got a recipe for an epic battle!

2) Loki & Thor

A particularly anticipated moment in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday is the return of Thor and Loki together. Though Thor witnessed Loki’s death in Avengers: Infinity War, he doesn’t realize the new He Who Remains is actually a version of his brother from another universe. The Loki series has explored the story of these alternate versions, and while this Loki isn’t the same one fans followed after The Avengers (2012), it will still be great to see the brothers interact in Doomsday.

1) Doctor Doom & Steve Rogers

Iron Man and Captain America were central figures in the Multiverse Saga, and with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans both returning, a reunion feels inevitable. A compelling storyline could involve Captain America battling a Doctor Doom who resembles Tony Stark – a situation that would make Steve hesitant to fight. This encounter, potentially in a film called Avengers: Doomsday, could be a dark mirror of their conflict in Captain America: Civil War, giving fans the chance to see Downey Jr. and Evans share the screen again.
