More information has come to light about Nintendo’s plans for future films, especially after talks about “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.” It appears several new projects are in the works, and Nintendo might be building a shared universe where these films are connected.
Multiple Mario universe projects rumored to be coming
Rumors are circulating about a wave of new movies based on Nintendo properties. The account MyTimeToShineHello claimed that films featuring Donkey Kong, Star Fox, Luigi’s Mansion, Pikmin, Yoshi, Kirby, and even Super Smash Bros. are all in development, along with potentially other projects.
According to the same source, Star Fox will be included in the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie. They believe this is a step towards a larger Super Smash Bros. movie being made!
Reviews of The Super Mario Bros. Movie show that the character Fox McCloud makes an appearance. This seems to be part of a plan to connect multiple characters and suggest a larger, shared universe. Many believe this inclusion is setting the stage for potential crossovers with other franchises in the future.
As a big fan, I’ve noticed the movie really pays off on little clues they dropped earlier – things characters said that hinted at way more than one world, or even multiple universes! What’s cool is they didn’t just throw everyone in there. They started with Mario and then carefully added characters like Donkey Kong and Pikmin, focusing on properties we all know and love. It feels like they’re building things slowly, and I’m excited to see where they take it next!
Shigeru Miyamoto has hinted at bringing back many beloved characters, suggesting Nintendo plans to feature a wide range of franchises in its upcoming projects. Confirmed appearances of characters like R.O.B. and from the Pikmin series support this idea, and the studio is also exploring the possibility of adding characters from series like Kirby in the future.
The studio is expanding its film universe with a live-action Legend of Zelda movie currently being made, and there are also talks of a Donkey Kong spin-off. These films are all part of a bigger plan to connect them, slowly building towards a major crossover event in the future.
