Okay, fellow comic and movie fans, get ready! Spider-Man and Superman are teaming up again after a long hiatus! To mark the 50th anniversary of their original crossover, Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man, Marvel and DC are releasing two new specials this March and April. It sounds like they’re taking a page from last year’s Deadpool/Batman team-ups – a main story, plus some smaller crossover stories drawn by a lot of really talented creators. But here’s the cool part: this time, instead of just focusing on Spidey and Supes, we’re going to see their friends and supporting characters interact, which I think is a fantastic idea!
The new Spider-Man and Superman specials aren’t out for a few months, but we already have a good idea of what the stories will be about. Besides a team-up between Superman and Spider-Man against Brainiac and Doctor Octopus, we’ll see other exciting pairings like the Golden Age Superman with Spider-Man Noir, and Miles Morales with Jon Kent. There are a lot of interesting stories planned, but want to know the 7 most anticipated crossovers? Keep reading to find out!
7. Spider-Family vs. Superman Family

As a huge comic and movie fan, I was so excited to hear Geoff Johns and Gary Frank are working together on the Marvel side of this crossover – that pairing always delivers! But the story itself sounds incredible. Apparently, Mysterio manages to pit the Superman and Spider-Man families against each other, causing a full-blown crisis. Honestly, I was worried some of my favorite characters would be sidelined, but knowing Geoff Johns, he’s a master at weaving everyone in and making a story truly epic. I have a feeling this is going to be something special.
6. Daily Planet and Daily Bugle

It’s great to see DC and Marvel recognize how funny it is that Superman and Spider-Man both rely on newspapers so much in their stories. I’m especially excited that Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott are writing this crossover! I can just picture J. Jonah Jameson arguing with everyone while the newspaper staff offers funny reactions. While it might not be the biggest crossover event, I think this creative team will make the interaction between the Daily Planet and the Daily Bugle really entertaining.
5. Miles Morales and Jon Kent

I was really happy to see Miles Morales included in this crossover event – I was starting to worry when he wasn’t in the DC special! Luckily, he’ll appear in Marvel’s tie-in, where his creators, Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, are pairing him with Jon Kent. It’s a great match because both characters are taking on the legacies of famous heroes and grappling with how to define themselves. I expect they’ll have a meaningful conversation, and I’m hoping they’ll get to fight alongside each other against a villain!
4. Superboy-Prime and Black Suit Spider-Man

I’m really excited about Superboy-Prime’s return to the DC Universe, and the timing is perfect! It looks like Christopher Priest and Daniel Sampere are teaming up to put the ultimate DC fanboy face-to-face with Spider-Man, right after he gets the black suit. I’m expecting a really funny and tense encounter – I can already picture the arguments and fighting! I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how this plays out.
3. Spider-Man Noir and Golden Age Superman

Considering Dan Slott’s extensive work on Spider-Man, I expected him to be involved in this project somehow. It’s surprising, though, that he’s not writing about the classic Peter Parker, but instead focusing on the Spider-Man Noir version. And teaming him up with the Golden Age Superman? That’s a fantastic idea! I’m really excited about this collaboration between Slott and Marcos Martin, and I’m confident they’ll deliver a truly impressive story. I don’t know what the plot will be, but I trust their creative skills.
2. Superman and Spider-Man

Let’s talk about the biggest highlight: seeing Superman and Spider-Man team up! I’m especially excited for the main crossover story, written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Jorge Jiménez. This epic will feature Clark Kent and Peter Parker joining forces to stop the combined threat of Brainiac and Doctor Octopus, potentially saving the world. Waid truly understands these heroes, and Jiménez is an incredibly talented artist, so I think fans are in for something special.
1. Jimmy Olsen and Carnage

What really excites me about this new crossover is the return of Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber, the creative team behind the beloved Jimmy Olsen run. They clearly haven’t missed a beat, and the idea of putting Jimmy in a story with Carnage is fantastic. I don’t need to know any more details – with this team and these characters, I’m confident this will be an all-time great Marvel/DC crossover.
