The Marvel Cinematic Universe is full of incredibly powerful aliens, and many fans think Thor is the strongest. Since 2008, the MCU has grown to include stories beyond Earth, introducing a wide range of new characters. These include both alien heroes and villains with amazing abilities. While Thor is definitely one of the most powerful, he’s not the only one – many other powerful characters in the MCU come from other worlds. Though he was one of the original Avengers, Thor doesn’t have exclusive claim to otherworldly power.
As a longtime MCU fan, I’ve noticed how much the universe has expanded, and we’ve met some incredibly powerful aliens! Some of them are just naturally strong, while others got a boost from special items or developed new powers. While Thor is definitely one of the originals and a powerhouse, it’s become clear he’s not the only super-powered alien in the MCU anymore.
7) Ego

Several villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe could defeat the original Avengers, and Ego the Living Planet is a prime example. He possesses immense cosmic power, able to manipulate his very atoms. While he wasn’t invincible – the Guardians of the Galaxy ultimately defeated him – Ego remains one of the MCU’s most powerful alien threats.
6) Hela

As a huge MCU fan, I always thought Hela was a standout villain – a real one-and-done character who made a massive impact in Thor: Ragnarok. The moment she was released after Odin died, she just took Asgard, easily defeating her brothers and claiming the throne. Honestly, Thor, Valkyrie, and even the Hulk couldn’t stand up to her! Even though she’s gone now, she’s definitely one of the most powerful and memorable villains the MCU has ever seen.
5) Odin

Odin, from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is an interesting figure. While presented as incredibly powerful – one of the strongest gods in the franchise – he doesn’t often demonstrate his full abilities on screen. However, his status as the Allfather and King of Asgard strongly suggests immense power and earns him the respect of others, proving he’s a major force. If his strength in the movies matches the comics, he’s among the most powerful beings in the MCU.
4) Thanos

Thanos, the main villain of the Infinity Saga, is also one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to ever die. In Avengers: Infinity War, he easily defeated both Thor and Hulk, and then collected all six Infinity Stones. Just surviving the immense power of the Stones proves how strong Thanos is, and with them, he became virtually invincible.
3) Loki

Loki is a fan-favorite anti-hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, largely because his story is so compelling. Born in Asgard with the power of illusion and the biology of a Frost Giant, he’s always been a formidable character. But the end of Loki season 2 significantly increased his power: he’s now the God of Stories, giving him control over the various timelines. This makes him incredibly powerful within the MCU, even though his abilities have certain limitations.
2) G’iah

G’iah, first seen in Secret Invasion, is a Skrull who has quickly become a major force in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Beyond the natural shapeshifting ability of her species, she was given a huge power boost by something called the Harvest – a collection of DNA from heroes and villains who fought in the Battle of Earth. This has given her a wide range of powers, including abilities similar to those of Captain Marvel, Groot, and Ghost. With so many different powers at her disposal, G’iah is now one of the most powerful alien beings in the MCU.
1) Galactus

Galactus is now a cosmic force, but he wasn’t always. He began as an alien before gaining immense power. First appearing in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, this ‘Devourer of Worlds’ wields the Power Cosmic, allowing him to destroy planets almost instantly. This makes him one of the most powerful aliens in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far, though new, powerful aliens could appear in the future.
