The Justice League is DC’s premier superhero team, and its members are incredibly powerful. Featuring iconic heroes like Batman and Superman, they’ve repeatedly faced and overcome massive threats to the Earth – villains like Darkseid and the Anti-Monitor. They don’t just protect the world at large, but also the individual communities within it.
The Justice League has featured a lot of amazing female heroes over the years, all contributing to the team’s success in protecting the world. While many powerful women have been members, some stand out as exceptionally strong – whether through raw power, incredible skills, or a combination of both. Here are seven of the most powerful female members of the Justice League, and the top spot might just belong to the League’s strongest hero overall.
7) Zatanna

No list of powerful heroes would be complete without a magic user, and Zatanna is one of the best. She’s a key member of both the main Justice League and the Justice League Dark, standing out even among incredibly strong heroes. She’s so powerful, she’s even been able to cast a spell on Batman! Don’t just take our word for it, though – Green Arrow himself has called Zatanna the most powerful member of the Justice League.
Zatanna is incredibly powerful, and while she’s known for magic, she’s much more than just a spellcaster. She’s an expert in the occult and demons, a fantastic stage magician and escape artist, and even a skilled fighter. You definitely wouldn’t want to cross her.
6) Starfire

Starfire is best known as a member of the Teen Titans, but she’s also fought alongside the Justice League. As an alien princess from the planet Tamaran, her unique biology lets her absorb ultraviolet light and turn it into energy. This gives her the power to fly incredibly fast, plus super strength and resilience. She can also fire energy blasts called star bolts, and she’s a skilled fighter up close.
Starfire is incredibly powerful, both naturally and as a skilled fighter. She’s proven this by defeating Donna Troy and even holding her own against Wonder Woman, though only for a short time. While she isn’t invincible and using her energy blasts can tire her out, she remains a very dangerous opponent.
5) Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders)

There have been many versions of Hawkgirl, and any of them would fit here, but we’ll highlight Kendra. It’s simpler than getting into the complicated history of the character, and Kendra is truly impressive. Thanks to Nth metal, she’s incredibly strong, tough, heals quickly, and can fly. Plus, because of her many past lives, she has a wealth of knowledge, making her a skilled detective, an expert with weapons, and a formidable fighter.
Okay, so a lot of these heroes are strong, but with Hawkgirl, it’s really noticeable. She’s just a total powerhouse, a seriously skilled brawler. She can definitely hold her own in a fight – honestly, I think she’s one of the League’s best when it comes to pure fighting ability.
4) Black Canary

Black Canary isn’t superpowered in the traditional sense – she’s not a god, alien, or magic user. However, she’s a formidable member of the Justice League, and you definitely wouldn’t want to cross her. While her sonic scream, the Canary Cry, is a significant ability, it’s her mastery of martial arts that truly makes her such a dangerous opponent.
DC Comics has recently confirmed just how strong Black Canary truly is. The comic series Black Canary: Best of the Best, by Tom King and Ryan Sook, showed her defeating Lady Shiva, proving her incredible physical strength and highlighting the mental toughness that makes her such a formidable hero and fighter.
3) Supergirl

Supergirl, like her cousin Superman, is incredibly powerful as a Kryptonian, making her one of the DC universe’s strongest heroes. While she does have weaknesses – the most famous being green kryptonite – they are limited, so anyone who challenges Supergirl needs to be exceptionally strong themselves.
Supergirl’s power isn’t just about her strength. She also has a range of other Kryptonian abilities, like flight, invulnerability, incredible stamina and speed, enhanced senses, and heat and x-ray vision. These powers, combined with being under a yellow sun, make her extremely difficult to defeat.
2) Big Barda

Big Barda began as a powerful warrior known as one of Apokolips’ Female Furies, but she fled to Earth with Mister Miracle. Now a New God on our world, she uses her incredible strength and fighting skills as a hero, even joining renowned teams like the Justice League, making her one of their strongest female members.
As a huge cinema fan, I’m always thrilled to see powerful female characters, and Big Barda definitely fits the bill! She’s basically immortal and unbelievably strong, fast, and resilient – a true powerhouse. Beyond her natural abilities, she’s a fantastic fighter, skilled with any weapon, and incredibly agile. But what really sets her apart is her amazing battle armor and this weapon called a Mega-Rod. It’s not just for show; it allows her to teleport and even control gravity! Honestly, she’s on a whole other level, easily comparable to someone like Wonder Woman.
1) Wonder Woman

As a huge DC fan, I totally get why Wonder Woman tops the list – she’s just iconic. Honestly, it’s hard to imagine anyone else in that spot. She’s a core member of DC’s ‘Trinity’, a real pillar of their heroes, and she was the first woman to join the Justice League. Beyond that, she’s arguably the most powerful member, and definitely one of the most important.
As a movie critic, I’ve seen plenty of superheroes, but Wonder Woman truly stands out. It’s not just her strength and warrior skills – though those are amazing – it’s the complete package. She’s a natural leader, incredibly compassionate, and that combination makes her a real powerhouse. What I love is that even when things get really tough, she remains strong, fair-minded, and genuinely kind. Honestly, she feels like the emotional core of the whole League. There’s simply no one more powerful, both physically and emotionally.
