7 Most Powerful Future Versions of Marvel Heroes, Ranked

The future in Marvel comics is constantly shifting, with countless timelines showing different possibilities for its heroes. These futures depend on the choices characters make today, and range from perfect societies to desolate worlds. Over time, many future versions of heroes become incredibly powerful – some losing their way and becoming corrupted, while others use their experience and abilities to protect the universe and beyond, becoming guardians of order.

Today’s superheroes are always getting stronger, gaining new abilities to better protect the world. They’re also discovering just how powerful they can become in the future.

7) Tony Stark, Sorcerer Supreme

Throughout his life, Tony Stark, best known as Iron Man, has always been dedicated to science and technological innovation. That’s why his decision to explore magic is so surprising. In an alternate reality (Earth-39234), Tony successfully persuades world governments to end war funding and, with the help of allies, brings about global peace. With this major accomplishment under his belt, Tony seeks a new challenge: mastering the mystic arts. He proves to be a quick learner, and by the year 2099, he surpasses even Doctor Strange, becoming the Sorcerer Supreme not only of Earth, but of the entire galaxy.

6) Cosmic Ghost Rider

In a dark future known as Earth-TRN666, Thanos has defeated all of Earth’s heroes except for one: the Cosmic Ghost Rider. Frank Castle, the Punisher, made a deal with the devil (Mephisto) to become a Spirit of Vengeance, and then volunteered to serve as Galactus’s Herald. This gives him incredible power – the combined might of two of the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe. As Cosmic Ghost Rider, he’s virtually unstoppable, having destroyed Celestials, defeated countless heroes across realities, and even reduced Thanos to bones. He’s so powerful, in fact, that he has to constantly restrain himself to avoid blowing up the planet he’s on.

5) King Thor

Thor was always meant to become king of Asgard, following in his father Odin’s footsteps. In a distant future, Thor willingly gives up an eye to gain the wisdom of his father. He eventually earns both the throne and immense power, which he calls the Thor-Force. Sadly, his brother Loki, driven by malice, nearly wipes out all life on Earth. This version of Thor, known as King Thor, is considered the wisest and most powerful Thor across all realities. He’s capable of incredible feats, like moving planets, creating massive storms, bringing a dead Earth back to life, and even defeating the universe-devouring Galactus. He also destroyed a dangerous cosmic force called the All-Black, which was threatening to corrupt everything. Ultimately, King Thor made the ultimate sacrifice, giving his life to postpone the end of his universe.

4) Old Man Phoenix

Throughout the history of the X-Men, several characters have bonded with the incredibly powerful Phoenix Force. One version, known as Old Man Phoenix, is a future iteration of Wolverine who died in a massacre but was brought back to life by the Force itself. As Old Man Phoenix, Wolverine spent ages traveling the universe, destroying planets to help maintain its natural balance. This form grants him immense strength – enough to destroy black holes and fight equally with beings like King Thor. Even when defeated, the Phoenix Force always revives him. But his greatest accomplishment is arguably using its power to stop a catastrophic flood that threatened to wipe out the entire multiverse.

3) Franklin Richards Galactus

Franklin Richards, the son of Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman, is considered one of the most powerful beings in the universe, a potential he’s shown since birth. In the primary Marvel Universe, he’s fated to replace Galactus at the end of time. However, in an alternate reality (Earth-9997), this transformation happens much earlier. This Earth experiences a surge of superpowers in everyone, and after the original Galactus dies, the universe falls into chaos, threatened by powerful Celestials. To fix this, an older Franklin asks the villain High Evolutionary to amplify his already immense powers. The process works, turning Franklin into the new Galactus. Combining his existing abilities with the Power Cosmic, he defeats countless Celestials and saves Earth.

2) Breaker-Apart Hulk

Recent discoveries reveal the source of the Hulk’s gamma-powered strength: a terrifying entity called the One Below All. This being, embodying pure hatred and destruction, uses gamma radiation to create monsters intended to destroy everything. In a distant future timeline, the Hulk will become the One Below All’s physical form and exist for billions of years. After defeating powerful beings like Galactus and Franklin Richards, this corrupted Hulk consumes a weakened Eternity. As the multiverse collapses and is reborn, the Hulk evolves into the Breaker-Apart, inheriting Galactus’s role as a destroyer of worlds. However, unlike Galactus, who destroyed worlds out of necessity, the Breaker-Apart acts out of pure malice, bringing all life to the brink of extinction.

1) Demiurge

Scarlet Witch is incredibly powerful, but her son, Wiccan, is predicted to become even more so. He’s already showing great skill in magic, though he’s only begun to tap into his full potential. In one possible future, Wiccan will become the Demiurge – a godlike being who controls all magic and reality across the entire multiverse. The Demiurge is all-powerful, exists everywhere at once, and can create or destroy worlds without effort. This being essentially defines the rules of existence and can change them whenever desired, making him a fundamentally important figure.
