It’s no hidden fact that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been facing challenges over the past few years. After the epic conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios have struggled to maintain momentum, with productions like Eternals and Moon Knight not quite hitting the mark. One reason for this is that the MCU has been pushing the boundaries without a clear strategy for exploiting all these new storylines. However, despite a rocky start, Phase 5 of the MCU ends on a positive note, laying the groundwork for significant developments in the future, such as a confrontation between Doctor Doom and Earth’s mightiest heroes.
Doom can’t just step into a multiverse without some serious powerhouses by his side. Characters like Thor and Captain Marvel, who hail from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, have immense strength. And it’s worth noting that several of these powerful figures first appeared in Phase 5 of the franchise.
7) Cassandra Nova
In the comic series titled “Deadpool & Wolverine“, Deadpool initially appears at the Time Variance Authority’s base. He then teams up with a variant of Wolverine, but their adventure takes an unexpected turn as they get targeted by a Time Stick. Their mission leads them to the Void, where they encounter Cassandra Nova, the malevolent sister of Charles Xavier. Like her brother, Cassandra possesses psychic powers, but she uses them for evil purposes instead, ruling over the Void and mercilessly stripping the skin off anyone who displeases her.
6) High Evolutionary
In “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, the narrative delves into Rocket’s past. Originally just an ordinary raccoon, he was transformed by a mad scientist called the High Evolutionary. However, after his creation rebelled against him, the High Evolutionary enhanced himself to become more powerful. By the time the Guardians encounter him in Vol. 3, he poses a significant threat, even causing difficulties for Adam Warlock, who was first introduced in a cocoon at the end of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”.
5) Red Hulk
In the upcoming film “Captain America: Brave New World,” Thunderbolt Ross, played by Harrison Ford instead of the late William Hurt, might have a new appearance, but he retains his trademark gruffness. His temper once again causes trouble when he learns that Samuel Sterns, also known as the Leader, has transformed him into the Hulk. In his red form, the Hulk wreaks havoc on a part of Washington D.C., but Captain America manages to touch his human side and persuade him to stop the destruction.
4) G’iah
As a passionate cinephile, I’m excitedly looking forward to the return of the Skrulls in “Secret Invasion.” This time around, a renegade shape-shifter named Gravik is seeking revenge against Nick Fury for leaving his kin behind. In an intriguing twist, Talos’ daughter, G’iah, goes undercover and employs Gravik’s Super Skrull Machine to enhance herself. With the ability to wield the powers of various significant Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes and villains, G’iah swiftly defeats Gravik and thwarts the Skrull threat before it inflicts irreparable harm on Earth.
3) Sentry
When the Thunderbolts engage in a confrontation with Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, they’ve bitten off more than they can handle. In her bid to expose everything, she reveals details about the Sentry Project. However, unbeknownst to her, one individual, Bob, survived the experiments and struggled to manage his powers. This led him to inadvertently release the Void onto New York City, threatening to consume it entirely. Fortunately, his new companions intervened, rescuing him from the destructive force within himself.
2) Mephisto
In Riri Williams’ standalone comic, the story initially appears understated as we follow the brilliant teenager’s quest for financial resources to enhance her suit. She joins The Hood’s gang and orchestrates robberies targeting Chicago’s wealthy elites. However, things take a dramatic turn when Riri discovers that she’s meddling with a malevolent magical power. Mephisto, the devil-like figure on The Hood’s side, presents an alluring proposition to Riri. Although he doesn’t display his full potential in Ironheart, his brief appearance hints that he is not someone to trifle with.
1) Death
Agatha Harkness is among the most potent magic-wielders within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Anyone who manages to outdo her can be considered genuine. In the series “Agatha All Along“, Death tests Agatha to the max, and it’s as if she doesn’t even exert any effort. Given that Death is a cosmic entity, there are hardly any movies for which Death wouldn’t have an answer. It won’t be long before her actions create significant trouble in another part of the MCU.
