DC Comics has featured a huge number of characters over the years, from iconic heroes like Superman and villains like Lex Luthor, to lesser-known figures like the Atom and Despero. While many have had their moment in the spotlight, most don’t stay popular for long. Comic book panels are limited, so most characters eventually take a backseat to allow the most popular ones to shine. This is particularly true for villains – we see countless stories featuring the Joker and Bizarro, but far fewer where characters like Grail take center stage.
Let’s highlight some DC villains who deserve more attention. We’re not just focusing on those who haven’t appeared recently, but those that most people have completely forgotten. It’s a shame they’ve been overlooked, because each one has the power to drastically change the DC Universe. Here’s a look at seven villains who could cause serious trouble if anyone remembered who they are.
7) Speed Demon

Jerry McGee was a scientist who created Steroid B-19, giving him incredible strength and speed comparable to the Flash. He was even faster than Wally West in their battles, though Wally hadn’t reached his peak potential yet. McGee’s dislike of Wally stemmed from a personal issue – Wally was dating Jerry’s wife during their separation. McGee’s reliance on the steroid and his advanced suit made him a compelling villain, and despite eventually changing his ways, his ability to outrun the Flash makes him exceptionally dangerous.
6) Grayven

Most comic fans know Orion and Kalibak are the sons of Darkseid, but fewer realize he had a third son named Grayven. Darkseid even gave Grayven a share of his power, allowing him to generate his own Omega Beams. While not as devastating as Darkseid’s, these beams were still incredibly strong – capable of knocking out even Martian Manhunter with a single hit. Grayven once launched a massive campaign to conquer the universe, nearly wiping out the Darkstars before being confronted by Kyle Rayner. Rayner teleported him into the Earth’s core, but Grayven simply tunneled his way back out. Given his lineage, it’s no surprise that Grayven possesses such immense power.
5) Infinite Man

Jaxon Rugarth began as a 31st-century scientist who built a time machine to prove a theory about time being circular. Instead, the machine flung him across all of time, filling him with chrono energy. This left him mentally unstable but gave him complete control over time. Calling himself Infinite Man, he fought the Legion of Super-Heroes. Even with heroes like Superboy on their side, they couldn’t defeat him, and were forced to simply contain him. Infinite Man could send anything to any point in time, and his knowledge of the entire timeline, combined with his madness, made him incredibly dangerous.
4) Devastation

According to myth, Cronus swallowed his children, but he secretly kept six of them hidden for centuries: Titan, Oblivion, Disdain, Arch, Slaughter, and Harrier. Driven to overthrow the Olympian gods, Cronus tasked these children with creating a dark counterpart to Wonder Woman. He used clay taken at Wonder Woman’s birth to sculpt his own creation, and his hidden gods blessed her with power. They called her Devastation, and she has quickly earned the name, proving to be a formidable force.
Devastation is just as powerful, fast, and resilient as Wonder Woman, and she can also fly. Beyond those abilities, she has a divine gift for healing quickly, managing her emotions, reading minds, creating earthquakes, and transforming into any other woman. She’s a complete equal to Wonder Woman, with some unique powers of her own. Anyone who can fight Diana on even terms is a serious danger to the entire planet.
3) Major Force

Captain Atom often doesn’t get the recognition he deserves, and the same is true for his main enemy, Major Force. Major Force gained his powers the same way Captain Atom did – through a military experiment. This gave him incredible abilities, including strength comparable to Superman, energy blasts more powerful than a nuclear bomb, and even the power to change the atomic structure of objects and people. Essentially, his potential is limitless – he could even control time if he fully understood his powers. However, Major Force’s lack of intelligence prevents him from reaching his full potential.
2) Dominus

Doctor Fate is incredibly powerful in the DC Universe, thanks to his role as a Lord of Order. Dominus is another Lord of Order, but he’s gone bad and is much more self-centered than Doctor Fate. He can warp reality itself, even turning Superman’s worst fears into real events. Dominus has complete control over time and space, and is strong enough to easily defeat both Superman and Martian Manhunter working together. His only weakness is that he doesn’t have a body, so he can only create things from living minds. Despite this, he remains one of Superman’s most formidable enemies – and that says a lot.
1) Stayne

Takion was originally intended to be Highfather’s successor. He possesses an unparalleled connection to the Source, granting him immense power – practically limitless, except for the constraints of his human mind. He can control all forms of energy, including the Speed Force. In a demonstration of his power, he withstood attacks from Captain Atom, Green Lantern, and the Flash simultaneously, without even fighting back. Takion is among the most powerful beings in existence, and Darkseid created Stayne specifically to counter his abilities.
Takion was created from light, while Stayne was born from darkness. She possessed the same abilities as Takion and shared a connection to the Source. Their battle was a perfect match, ending only when Takion embraced Stayne and they became one. Though Stayne existed briefly, her immense power could have defeated almost any hero in the DC Universe, and she’s remembered for that incredible strength. That’s all anyone needs to know about her impact.
