But get ready, because 2026 promises to be even better! The Winter 2026 season alone will feature the return of beloved titles like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Jujutsu Kaisen, Hell’s Paradise, Fire Force, and My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, with even more amazing shows planned throughout the entire year.
Netflix has been increasingly involved in anime production as the industry experiences rapid growth. As a major streaming service with a large and constantly expanding library, Netflix offers many popular series. While viewers anticipate the return of favorite shows next year, Netflix also has a slate of original anime ready to premiere.
7) Dorohedoro Season 2

Four years after it first aired, MAPPA’s often-overlooked action anime has been renewed for a second season. The show centers on Caiman, a man with a lizard’s head who has no memory of who he was before. He and his friend Nikaido track down sorcerers in a dangerous, lawless city called the Hole, where only the powerful survive. Caiman hopes to uncover the truth about his past and the curse that gave him his unusual form, and is haunted by disturbing dreams. The new season is scheduled to premiere in 2026, though a specific date hasn’t been announced.
6) Devil May Cry Season 2

Inspired by Capcom’s popular video game series, this show was created by Adi Shankar and brought to life with animation from the South Korean studio Mir. It centers on Dante, a demon hunter who works for money and is trying to prevent a demonic invasion of Earth. The invasion is led by White Rabbit, a demon seeking revenge against humanity. Adding to Dante’s challenges, he’s also pursued by a government organization called Dark Realm Command (DARKCOM). The second season is scheduled to be released on May 12, 2026.
5) Pokémon Horizons: Season 3—Rising Hope (Part 1)

The first part of Pokémon Horizons Season 3, titled “Rising Hope,” will premiere on January 6, 2026, with 11 episodes. Picking up a year after the events in Laqua, the story follows Liko and Roy as they work to restore the Rising Volt Tacklers, a team currently without a leader. Joining them will be Dot and her Lucario, who is skilled at gathering information, as well as a new rival for Roy named Ult. Throughout their adventures, Liko, Roy, and Dot will also investigate a strange pink mist that’s affecting Pokémon in the area.
4) Cosmic Princess Kaguya!

A new Netflix film, Cosmic Princess Kaguya!, is coming out on January 26, 2026. It’s a fresh take on the classic Japanese story The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, and marks the first feature film directed by Shingo Yamashita, known for his work on the opening sequences of hit anime like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. The movie centers around two girls who connect through music while performing in the fantastical virtual world of Tsukuyomi.
3) JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run

Fans are eagerly awaiting the 2026 release of the seventh installment in Hirohiko Araki’s popular series. This part of the story is set in the American Old West, where a massive crowd gathers in San Diego for a chance to win fifty million dollars. As the age of horses comes to a close, racers can use any type of vehicle they choose. The story centers around Gyro Zeppeli, a racer who carries two steel balls instead of a gun, and Johnny Joestar, a former horse racer who becomes determined to learn the mystery behind them.
2) Baki- Dou Season 1

Following the popular anime Baki Hanma, the new series picks up with Baki feeling restless after becoming the world’s strongest fighter. He finds some challenge defending his title in an underground arena, but his opponents aren’t strong enough to truly test him. Everything changes when a secret is revealed: the legendary samurai Musashi Miyamoto has been successfully cloned, throwing the country into chaos. The anime is scheduled to premiere on February 26, 2026.
1) Love Through a Prism

Yoko Kamio, the author of the popular manga Boys Over Flowers, presents Love Through a Prism, a new story coming as an anime on January 20th, 2026. The anime will have 20 episodes. Set in the early 1900s, the story follows Lili Ichijouin, a young artist who travels from Japan to study at the esteemed Saint Thomas Art Academy. She faces pressure from her parents to be the top student in her class to continue her education. Along the way, she meets Kit Church, a talented classmate who is keeping secrets.
