As we move into the latter half of 2026, there are many new Isekai anime series coming out that fans will be excited about. The year has already been strong for the genre; while it’s not quite as popular as it once was, we’ve seen plenty of great new shows and the return of some popular franchises in the first half of the year.
I’m so excited for all the anime coming out this year! We’re already seeing a lot of continuing Isekai series, but honestly, I’m even more thrilled about all the new ones! It’s great to see fresh Isekai stories popping up that are actually doing something a little different. I’ve put together a list below of some of the new Isekai anime still on the way – definitely worth checking out!
7). The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System

Release Date: July 3rd (TBD)
Nekoko and Jaian’s The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System follows a typical ‘isekai’ premise: a person is reborn into the world of their favorite game. Surprisingly, they end up with the secretly most powerful job class, even though it appears to be the weakest. This makes it the lowest-ranked job by default, which is a neat twist. The anime adaptation is being handled by GoHands, a studio known for its very distinctive – and often controversial – animation style, making this series one to watch with curiosity.
6). The Forsaken Saintess and her Foodie Roadtrip in Another World

Release Window: July 2026 (HIDIVE)
Yoneori’s The Forsaken Saintess and Her Foodie Roadtrip in Another World is a relaxing Isekai anime focused on a character enjoying a peaceful journey filled with cooking and downtime. While it shares some familiar elements with other Isekai shows – the main character was initially rejected by the kingdom after being summoned to a new world – it’s unique in its emphasis on creating a calming and enjoyable atmosphere. It’s the kind of show you’ll want to watch when you need something lighthearted and comforting.
5). The Failed Sage’s Academy Domination

Release Window: July 2026 (TBD)
This summer, EMT Squared is producing two anime based on popular light novels. While they’re working on both, the one titled From Overshadowed to Overpowered: Second Reincarnation of a Talentless Sage is expected to be more popular. Also known as The Failed Sage’s Academy Domination, the story follows a man who is reborn twice. First, he’s reborn as a magician but doesn’t achieve much before dying. Centuries later, he’s reborn again into a world where magic is weaker, and he becomes an incredibly powerful sage. Despite using familiar themes, this anime has the potential to be very successful.
4). Heroine? Saint? No, I’m an All-Works Maid (And Proud of It)!

Release Window: July 2026 (Crunchyroll)
The anime Heroine? Saint? No, I’m an All-Works Maid (and Proud of It)! takes a surprising turn with its reincarnation story, immediately setting it apart. Instead of becoming a powerful magic user as the game’s main character, the protagonist chooses to live out her dream of being a maid. This unique premise promises a blend of relaxing, everyday moments and humorous adventures, and hopefully the series will deliver on both fronts.
3). Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life

Release Window: July 2026
Hekiru Hikawa’s Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life feels similar to shows like Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero and The Devil Is a Part-Timer!—it also features a hero and demon lord who are reborn on Earth. However, this series has a unique spin: the hero is determined to continue their battle with the demon lord even in their new lives. Expect plenty of comedic moments, and hopefully some exciting action sequences, just like other shows of this type.
2). Reborn as a Space Mercenary: I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Starship!

Release Window: October 2026
It’s surprising we don’t see more science fiction stories in the ‘Isekai’ genre, which is why Reborn as a Space Mercenary: I Woke Up Piloting the Strongest Starship! by Ryuto and Tetsuhiro Nabeshima immediately grabs your attention. The story drops its hero into a universe resembling his favorite space game, and he chooses to live as a space mercenary, working for the highest bidder. As you’d expect, he gathers a crew of allies as he travels the galaxy, and hopefully the story delivers a compelling new world to discover. With so few sci-fi Isekai available, it’s important that those we do get are really well done.
1). Magic Knight Rayearth

Release Window: October 2026
Even though CLAMP’s Magic Knight Rayearth first came out 30 years ago, a brand new version is on the way! This anime is a great example of the ‘Isekai’ genre and has a lot to offer: magical girl elements, huge mecha battles, and a vast, surprising fantasy world. It’s a story that still feels fresh, and will be a first-time experience for many fans. It’s popular for good reason, so be sure to check it out this Fall.
