Nearly all of the heroes we see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been Avengers at some point. During the epic battle in Avengers: Endgame, Captain America famously says, “Avengers Assemble,” effectively making everyone fighting alongside him an honorary member. While not all of them stayed to live and work at Avengers Tower – the Guardians of the Galaxy returned to space, and the sorcerers went home – there are still some heroes in the MCU who want to see the Avengers team active and meaningful again.
In Thunderbolts, Bucky Barnes assembles a team that unexpectedly ends up acting as the new Avengers, which worries Sam Wilson as he’s trying to build his own group. Luckily, Sam has a lot of potential members to choose from. Here are seven powerful Avengers who haven’t yet appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
7) Doctor Druid

Most lists ranking the best Avengers always include characters like Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man. Doctor Druid is often left off these lists because his time as an Avenger wasn’t particularly memorable. He joined the team after assisting in stopping Baron Zemo from taking over the Avengers’ headquarters, but didn’t play a significant role afterward.
Just because Druid isn’t a standout member of Marvel’s top team doesn’t mean he’s weak. In fact, the Ancient One specifically trains him to support Doctor Strange, and he becomes highly skilled at fighting magic. While he won’t ever reach Strange’s level, he’s still a valuable asset.
6) Firebird

Firebird is incredibly eager to become an Avenger. Soon after gaining her abilities from a radioactive meteorite, she applies to join the West Coast Avengers, the team led by Hawkeye. He doesn’t give her an immediate answer, so she pursues other opportunities before eventually becoming a member of the main Avengers team and later, the Secret Avengers.
Firebird is special because she can both fly and generate fire from nothing. It’s no wonder Earth’s greatest heroes highly value her abilities. Unlike some heroes, Firebird truly shines when she’s working with others as part of a team.
5) Quasar

It’s tricky being a space-based Avenger, since most threats target Earth. But Quasar manages it well, thanks to the incredibly versatile Quantum Bands he wears, which give him almost limitless power.
Though he’s just a normal person from Earth, Quasar quickly adapts to being a galactic protector. When Ego – a villain many Marvel heroes know well – threatens Earth, Quasar manages to absorb his power and banish him. It’s a feat very few Avengers could accomplish.
4) Ares

The Asgardians tend to dominate the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it wasn’t until the fourth Thor movie that we even saw hints of the Greek gods. While Zeus and Hercules have appeared, it seems likely Ares will show up soon too.
As a fan, I’ve always seen Ares as true to his comic book roots – he’s a force of destruction wherever he goes! But it’s not always about chaos with him. There have been times when he’s actually fought with the Avengers, helping to save the day, like when Ultron came back to cause trouble. It’s surprising, but it’s cool to see him on the good guy’s side sometimes.
3) Nova

The Nova Corps functions similarly to DC Comics’ Green Lantern Corps, with members patrolling the galaxy to maintain order. Just as Hal Jordan is a key figure in the Green Lantern Corps, Richard Rider is the most important member of the Nova Corps. Though he often works alone, Richard will team up with others when the situation calls for it.
Steve Rogers recruited Richard for the Secret Avengers, recognizing his incredible potential. Richard, powered by the Nova Force, can fly, control energy, and is a powerful fighter. Opponents think twice before facing him, particularly when he’s fighting alongside other Avengers.
2) Beta Ray Bill

Even though Mjolnir is Thor’s signature weapon, he doesn’t always have it. Beta Ray Bill once proved worthy enough to wield its power and used it effectively. Eventually, Bill returned Mjolnir and received his own powerful weapon, Stormbreaker, allowing him to continue fighting as a hero.
Bill typically lets Thor handle fighting villains, but he unexpectedly becomes an Avenger in the comic series Immortal Thor. A massive battle changes reality, and Bill is briefly one of the team’s original members. Although he doesn’t stay on the team for long, that makes him eligible to be included here.
1) Spider-Woman

Spider-Man prefers to work solo and stay connected to what’s happening on the streets, rather than hanging out with other heroes in headquarters. But unlike him, Jessica Drew – another hero with spider-like abilities – enjoys being a team player and has been a member of groups like the Avengers, Secret Avengers, and New Avengers.
You might think Spider-Woman has the same powers as Spider-Man, but that’s not quite right. The radiation that gave her abilities also changed her body, giving her unique powers like “venom blasts”—powerful bursts of energy she can release.
