8 Years Later, Major Crunchyroll Supernatural Anime Prepares For Finale With New Release

Crunchyroll is a leading streaming service for anime, offering a wide variety of shows and movies. One of its most popular series is Rascal Does Not Dream, which includes multiple seasons and films. The story begins with Rascal Does Not Dream of a Bunny Girl Senpai, focusing on a girl who mysteriously appears in a bunny girl outfit, yet no one can see her. While each sequel has a slightly different title, they all follow the same characters and universe, with the main character, Sakuta Azusagawa, helping girls who are experiencing strange, supernatural problems. The final film in the series, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend, will be released in Japan on October 16, 2026. A global release date has not yet been announced.

After the movie premieres, the creators will announce when it will be available worldwide, but that announcement could be several months away. Leading up to the release, beautiful artwork of the characters is being revealed. The newest image features Mai Sakurajima in her famous bunny girl outfit, which is how the story began. To build excitement for the finale, a short teaser trailer has also been released on the official Aniplex YouTube channel.

What Is Rascal Does Not Dream Series About?

This story takes place in a world where teenagers can develop a mysterious condition called Puberty Syndrome. It’s so uncommon, though, that most people think it’s just a legend.

Puberty Syndrome is often dismissed as a legend, a bizarre illness supposedly affecting only teenagers with unbelievably strange symptoms. Most people don’t believe it’s real, but high schooler Sakuta Azusagawa knows firsthand that it’s very much a reality – and surprisingly common at his school.

Mai Sakurajima is a high school student who used to be a famous child actress but suddenly stopped her career. She has a reputation for being distant, and most students avoid her. However, Sakuta notices her one day wearing a bunny girl costume—and strangely, no one else seems to see her. He soon discovers she’s experiencing a mysterious condition called Puberty Syndrome, and as he tries to help her, he meets other girls suffering from the same strange illness.
