The incredibly popular web novel and manhwa, Solo Leveling, created by Chugong, gained fans worldwide. This success made the anime adaptation a likely hit, but it still managed to surpass all expectations, breaking streaming records on Crunchyroll. Now, while fans eagerly await season three of the anime, the Solo Leveling franchise has launched a new role-playing game in the U.S. called Solo Leveling: Arise. Developed by Netmarble, this free-to-play game is available on PC, iOS, and Android and uses a gacha system with Tickets. Arise features both characters from the original story and new, original characters, all battling new threats that emerge after mysterious gates appear.
One of the key characters in the game is Igris, a popular figure from the original series. In the original story, Igris always wore a helmet, keeping his face hidden. However, Solo Leveling: Arise revealed his design without the helmet, and fans immediately loved the new look. The design was first shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the fan account @SLANewsEN and quickly gained thousands of likes, spreading across social media with widespread praise. Although the original novel concluded in 2017, followed by the manhwa and anime adaptations, fans had never officially seen Igris’ face uncovered until now.
Who Is Igris in Solo Leveling?

Igris is a powerful, high-ranking shadow and one of Jinwoo’s most trusted companions. He first appeared at the end of the first season, challenging Jinwoo to a fight – a display of noble spirit despite being a magical being created by the System. It was a difficult battle, but Jinwoo eventually gained Igris’s loyalty, and he’s been a vital part of Jinwoo’s team ever since Jinwoo became a necromancer.
The story eventually shows us what happened in Igris’ past and how he’s connected to Ashborn, the Monarch of Shadows. Igris is incredibly loyal to Ashborn, no matter what. He used to be a human knight who lost everything, then met Ashborn and became his trusted right-hand man thousands of years ago. While the anime hasn’t revealed all the details yet, the novel and manhwa have already explored his history, making him a very popular character in the series.
The anime Arise also shares a heartbreaking story about the character’s past, showing his journey from a strong knight to his relationship with and eventual parting from Ashborn. While the studio, A-1 Pictures, hasn’t confirmed a third season yet, some believe a movie might be in the works. You can watch the first two seasons on Crunchyroll.
