It’s heartbreaking when a promising young actor or actress dies before having a chance to truly shine. That’s exactly what happened with Isabelle Tate, who passed away at just 23 years old. While you might not recognize the name yet, it’s simply because she hadn’t fully broken through in Hollywood.
I was so saddened to hear about Izzy Tate’s passing. Her agent shared the news on Facebook, saying they’d known her since she was a teenager and she was actually getting back into acting. She’d just landed her first role in a series called 9-1-1: Nashville and was really enjoying it. It’s just heartbreaking – her agent said she was a wonderful person and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Sharing their own tribute to the actress, Tate’s family wrote:
The obituary described Isabelle as someone who loved giving back, especially to animals – a perfect day for her would be spent at an animal shelter showering them with affection. It also noted her incredible spirit and determination; she never let any physical challenge hold her back or define her.
The cause of Tate’s death is currently unknown. She had a nerve condition called neuromuscular disease that gradually weakened her legs, and she was involved with the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease Foundation. Her family has asked that donations be made to the foundation instead of sending flowers. In 2022, Tate shared details about her condition on Instagram, saying:
Facing this condition has been incredibly challenging, especially learning to accept help and letting things progress naturally. I felt like I lost touch with who I was as I struggled to adjust. It wasn’t just the physical toll; I was letting it affect my spirit too. It’s something I never imagined happening, and I still don’t understand why this happened. But I can’t change it, so I’m choosing to accept it and focus on not letting it control my life.
According to her family, Tate loved making music, often writing and recording songs with her friends. More than anything, she cherished being with the people she loved and was known for bringing joy and energy to any gathering.
Izzy Tate (credited as Tate) played Julie in the first episode of the show. Her character was a young woman in a wheelchair who was harassed at a bar while trying to watch Hunter McVey’s Blue perform.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.
