9-1-1’s Jennifer Love Hewitt on Emotional Return Without Peter Krause

Warning: This article contains major spoilers for 9-1-1’s April 17 episode “Lab Rats.”

The 9-1-1 family is still getting used to Peter Krause‘s absence.

Approximately three months following the surprising demise of Bobby Nash, Krause’s LAFD captain character in the Fox procedural series during season eight, Jennifer Love Hewitt, one of the co-stars, has provided an update on the cast and crew’s current status after their recent return to set for season nine.

At the premiere of her latest movie, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” on July 14th, the actress explained to Entertainment Tonight that things are not as they used to be. She emphasized, “Everything has changed.

Although I’m still grieving over Krause’s unexpected exit, Hewitt observed about the Ryan Murphy-created series, “It seems to me that, indeed, such events are part of the reality when you’re narrating stories about first responders.

Nevertheless, Hewitt, who plays Maddie Han, a 9-1-1 dispatcher on the series, deeply misses her longtime co-star from “Parenthood” since they worked together for seven seasons.

He was the one who meant the most to every member of the cast, she noted. He was our champion, and forever will remain so.

Despite the challenges, the performance must continue, and Hewitt can hardly wait to capture another heart-racing series!

Regardless of obstacles, the show has to carry on, and Hewitt is thrilled beyond measure to film another pulse-pounding season.

The 46-year-old couldn’t hide their enthusiasm. ‘It’s what I love most,’ they said, longing for their community. Strangely, they even yearned for the daily tears. So, they can’t wait to return and face whatever crises await.

After Bobby’s passing on the April 17 episode, Krause wrote a heartfelt goodbye message about his experience on the series.

In a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, Krause stated, “Bobby Nash was crafted with sacrifice in mind, and he embodies this quality.” He continued, “Just as first responders put their lives on the line for their duty, so does Bobby’s character arc pay tribute to them.

Absolutely, the individual who’s been on the 9-1-1 series since its debut in 2018 acknowledged that longtime fans may feel upset about this departure, and they indeed have every reason to.

And no one was more shocked than Krause’s onscreen wife, a.k.a. costar Angela Bassett.

She clarified to The Hollywood Reporter in April that it was hard for her to believe it was Bobby when showrunner Tim Minear shared the storyline with her. “I found it hard to believe that it was Bobby, so it came as a complete surprise,” she said. “Sometimes you’re left speechless—and that was one of those moments.

Bobby Nash’s character was crafted as a tribute, and he embodies this role perfectly, Krause stated to the Hollywood Reporter. Firefighters, police officers, and other first responders put their lives on the line daily so that others can continue living. His narrative arc pays homage to these brave individuals.
