David Roach, Junkyard Singer, Dies 2 Weeks After His Wedding

Classic rock fans are mourning the loss of a legend.

David Roach, who sang for the Los Angeles-based rock band Junkyard, passed away following a tough fight against aggressive squamous cell carcinoma, as confirmed by the band in a statement on August 3. He was 59 years old.

With deep regret, we share the news that David Roach has sadly passed away following his valiant fight against cancer. He found peace last night at home, surrounded by the tender care of his devoted wife.

The band, consisting of members Brian Baker, Chris Gates, Patrick Muzingo, Tim Mosher, Jimmy James, and Todd Muscat, paid tribute to a fellow band member who joined them when the band was formed back in 1987.

Not only was he an exceptionally talented musician, playing multiple roles as an artist, performer, songwriter, and vocalist, but his most significant role was that of a loving father, husband, and brother. Our sympathies go out to the Roach family and all those who cherished him.

Roach recently passed away, which is sad news, especially since it happened only a few weeks after the band revealed that he had married Jennifer Roach in an informal wedding ceremony last month.

In their July 20 Instagram post, the band extended their heartfelt congratulations to the joyful newlyweds, David Patrick Roach and his bride, by writing, “Here’s to Mr. and Mrs. David Patrick Roach!” along with a charming group photo and a picture of the newly-married duo.

In the days before Roach’s unfortunate passing, his bandmates collaborated to honor his memory by sharing tales of his impact and collecting funds for his family as his medical expenses climbed.

David genuinely connects with anyone he encounters, as expressed in a GoFundMe post by Junkyard. He possesses an uncanny ability to make people feel valued and cherished, and his infectious humor consistently brings joy and merriment to the company of others.

After David’s passing, James, his fellow musician, posted a picture of him and wrote, “Departed far too early. Rest in peace, David.
