In addition to its popular parkour features and nerve-wracking nighttime survival aspects, it’s important to remember that Dying Light can also be quite gruesome. Drawing inspiration from Dead Island 2, Techland has incorporated some grisly gore elements in the expansion pack, Dying Light: The Beast. You can get a glimpse of these in the trailer linked below.
Dismemberment is just the beginning – cutting into a zombie’s corpse exposes its diseased organs and bones before it collapses. A single bullet demonstrates how a sledgehammer can instantly reveal an adversary’s brain upon initial impact, followed by a gratifying splatter on the second strike. Nevertheless, due to protagonist Kyle Crane’s enhanced strength from his mutation, he can also tear through bodies with just his bare fists.
Maybe the most impressive instant could be when you manage to halt an attack from a massive zombie, grabbing its rebar weapon and driving it deep into the undead’s skull instead.
On September 19th, the new expansion titled Dying Light: The Beast will release for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The versions for PS4 and Xbox One are set to follow later this year. The game costs $59.99, and you can read here about the reasons given by franchise director Tymon Smektala as to why it’s priced that way. At Gamescom from August 20th to 24th, attendees will have the chance to try out a playable demo of Dying Light: The Beast at Techland’s booth.
