PS5 Lifetime Shipments Reach 80.3 Million Units

Sony’s latest financial report indicates that the quarter ending on June 30th has concluded, and an exciting development for the PS5 is evident: it has surpassed a new milestone with a global shipment of 80.3 million units. Compared to the previous year, this quarter saw an increase in console shipments, specifically 2.5 million consoles.

The number of software sales for PS5 and PS4 grew by 12.3 million compared to the previous year, totaling approximately 65.9 million. Nearly four out of five of these sales were digital downloads of complete games, while first-party titles accounted for around 6.9 million units – a slight increase from the same period last year.

During the past year, the number of monthly active users on PlayStation Network grew significantly, increasing from 116 million to 123 million. This quarter proved successful for Sony overall, yet there remains some uncertainty in the future due to tariffs. The potential impact on operational income is projected to be around 100 billion Yen; however, Sony plans to mitigate this by raising prices for the PS5.

The leader of SIE (Sony Interactive Entertainment), Hiroki Totoki, mulled over the possibility of manufacturing consoles in the United States, but as of now, there’s no new information on that front. Keep an eye out for updates in the meantime.
