Netflix’s One Piece Season 2 Still Hasn’t Revealed One Fan-Favorite Character

Annually, the One Piece franchise marks a special day to honor the manga’s initial publication on July 22nd, 1997. This celebration’s date changes every year, and in 2025, it took place in August. During this event, various thrilling updates about the anime and manga were shared, along with a sneak peek of Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action Season 2. Two years following the first season’s debut and its worldwide success, fans finally caught a glimpse into the Straw Hat Pirates’ adventure in the Grand Line. The second season is set to premiere in 2026, and the trailer also hinted at a third season coming soon after.

As an avid fan, I’m thrilled to share that Season 2 is set to delve into some exciting storylines! We’re in for a treat as it promises to explore Loguetown, Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island Arcs. Post-Drum Island, the main event of Alabasta will take center stage in Season 3. The latest trailer has introduced several intriguing new characters, including Nico Robin, Smoker, Princess Vivi, Brogy, Laboon, and even a special announcement for Chopper! Although Crocodile didn’t make an appearance in the trailer, his actor was warmly welcomed last year.

While the spotlight is currently shining on all these captivating characters, there’s still anticipation brewing about the cast of Portgas D. Ace yet to be revealed. Buckle up, fellow fans, as we embark on this thrilling journey together!

Who Is Portgas D. Ace in One Piece?

Ace is Luffy’s older sibling who belongs to a well-known pirate group. They lived together in the village of Foosha before Ace embarked on his sea journey two years prior to Luffy. During the Alabasta Storyline, Ace is chasing a dangerous pirate solo and finds himself on Drum Island, where his quarry was last spotted. Unfortunately, they don’t get a chance to meet again since Ace knew that Luffy was heading towards Alabasta, which happens to be Ace’s next destination as well. Although Ace appears briefly in the Drum Island storyline, their reunion and significant involvement will take place in Alabasta.

Due to Ace’s unique character traits, he gained a large following among fans during the Alabasta storyline in One Piece. Given the substantial differences between the manga and the live-action version, there’s a chance that Ace might not appear in Drum Island. This could be why he’s absent from the trailer. However, it’s highly unlikely that Netflix would eliminate his character entirely from the Alabasta Arc, given his immense popularity. It seems possible that they are holding back on revealing his actor to create more excitement by introducing him at a strategic moment.
