There’s plenty of excitement building as numerous standalone, narrative-driven games are getting announced for the PS5. One of the most recent noteworthy titles is Woochi the Wayfarer.
Earlier this month, the historical fantasy produced by Nexon and LoreVault unveiled a concept trailer, quickly capturing interest due to its accurate portrayal of the Joseon era.
The developer recently made public an exclusive backstage conversation detailing their aspirations and objectives for the current project.
The art director, Mok Youngmi, clarifies that although the initial trailer was already fully rendered, it was fabricated utilizing assets directly from the game itself.

She said:
Our goal was to accurately portray the in-game scenes for a true representation of the game’s atmosphere and quality. To achieve this, we employ advanced technologies such as 3D scanning and MetaHuman character models that provide realistic, engaging characters.
The director, Kang Dong Yeon, hinted at an upcoming game that promises to be a captivating solo adventure focused on narrative and combat. However, he did not specify whether it would follow more closely in the vein ofDark Souls or resemble games like Devil May Cry.
He said:
Our goal is to create an engaging story that resonates deeply with players, leaving them emotionally moved by the end. We achieve this primarily through cinematic storytelling, using visually striking direction. Additionally, we strive to offer exhilarating combat sequences in diverse forms, ensuring the game remains enjoyable to play.
As for now, there’s no specified launch date for this project. Given that the interview appears to be focusing on hiring developers for their team, it seems unlikely that the project is nearing completion.
Indeed, the concept appears quite intriguing, and we’re drawn to the fusion of actual Korean history with a fantastical element. It’s certainly something that warrants close attention.
