Instead of the original statement: As if the skepticism about Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 wasn’t already high, it has been disclosed that the challenging production will necessitate players to spend more on a DLC expansion featuring two additional clans, serving as character classes.
The controversial Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 game has been unveiled to require additional spending on a DLC offering new character classes in the form of two additional clans.
Eurogamer shares news about an upcoming DLC named ‘Shadows and Silk.’ This expansion adds two additional clan choices to the roster available when designing your custom character, bringing the total in the base game to six clans: Brujah, Tremere, Banu Haqim, Ventrue, plus the new options.
Essentially, the clan you choose influences your gameplay style significantly. For instance, if you opt for the Brujah clan, you’ll lean more towards physical combat, while joining the Ventrue clan would lead you down a path focused on manipulating your enemies’ minds.
The DLC, which adds the Toreador or Lasombra clans, will set you back a hefty $21.99 / £18.69.
You can connect with these two clans at a lower cost, but that requires purchasing the ‘Premium Edition’ of Bloodlines 2 for $89.99 / £74.99.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my concerns about the latest development in this game we all love. The decision to lock gameplay-defining choices behind an extra paywall feels quite unsettling and doesn’t exactly paint a positive picture for the title. Given the criticisms it has already faced, this move could potentially add fuel to the fire.
The original Bloodlines certainly embodies the essence of a cult favorite – a game with noticeable flaws but an engaging and distinctly unusual mood. Initial glimpses of the sequel suggest fewer opportunities for outlandish role-playing and a shift towards a more somber tone.
How do you feel about this obvious money-grabbing move? Are you optimistic about the quality of the game, set to be released in October? Please refrain from commenting with your financial intentions.
