Life on the road isn’t always the easiest—just ask Kirsten Dunst.
The actress from The Power of the Dog, who has a 7-year-old named Ennis and a 4-year-old named James with her husband Jesse Plemons, revealed that their younger son recently experienced a significant health issue while she was filming her upcoming movie The Entertainment System Is Down in Budapest earlier this year.
In an interview with Town & Country published on August 20, Kirsten shared that she and her family – Jesse and Ennis – decided to move to Hungary in January, renting a house and enrolling Ennis in school there for the duration of their six-month film shoot. However, things took a sudden and terrifying turn when James, presumably one of the family members, fell ill.
Jesse returned the boys to Los Angeles, ensuring they had their larger network of family and friends while he continued filming in Budapest. This left Kirsten on her own in Budapest until the completion of filming, although she made a short trip back to the U.S. in April for a brief family reunion.
Despite the actress famous for “Bring It On” not disclosing specifics about James’ ailment, she did assure everyone that everything is now okay. However, this doesn’t lessen the fear and anxiety experienced during the incident, especially since she was required to be apart from her family due to work commitments at the time.
Kirsten found it similar to “The Final Destination,” a movie in which one visualizes various calamities befalling a child, as if life’s most dire possibilities were coming true.
She mentioned that she’s never watched that particular film, but she understands its theme. It’s reminiscent of what being a mother sometimes feels like.
After the health issue James faced, Kirsten can now express that it significantly strengthened their family bond, saying, “It drew us as a family closer than ever before.” Moreover, they decided on a family trip to any destination that appealed most to James.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d say, “I recommended the Bahamas for our getaway, as it was the perfect destination to fulfill my longing for a beach where my sandcastle wouldn’t be claimed by the tide.
Though the Oscar-nominated individual typically prefers to maintain a low profile regarding her personal matters, she has lately offered some intriguing revelations about James’ character.
In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in April 2024, she said, “He’s about three years old, and when he misbehaves, we nickname him Jimmy. He’s wild, so unruly that we sometimes call him our own Chris Farley, due to his comical way of moving around. He’s a real character, this little guy.
