The game titled “STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl” is scheduled to appear on PlayStation 5 on November 20, 2025. Originally, this sequel to the critically acclaimed shooter by GSC Game World had a challenging and prolonged development process. Eventually, it was released as an exclusive for PC and Xbox in late 2024. Having received several post-launch updates, “STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl” is now readying itself for its release on the PlayStation 5.
GSC Game World initially announced that the game STALKER 2 was set to release on PlayStation 5 in July 2025. Although an exact date wasn’t provided then, the studio did confirm that the PS5 version would be available towards the end of 2025 and would include exclusive features and improvements specifically for the PS5 Pro. Now, approximately a month later, enthusiasts of the series have received further information about both the release timeframe and these new features.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl Will Come to PS5 and PS5 Pro on November 20, 2025
During Gamescom 2025, a new trailer announced that STALKER 2 for PS5 will be released in November, as initially anticipated within the “late 2025” timeframe. This release date marks one year since the game’s debut on Xbox and PC after various postponements, some of which were attributed to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, where GSC Game World is located. Despite these delays, STALKER 2 made a significant impact upon its launch, and the support from being a day-one title on Xbox Game Pass certainly didn’t hurt. As the game’s success continues, PlayStation fans will soon have the opportunity to explore it later this year.
As a PS5 gamer, I can’t wait to get my hands on the new version! With the DualSense controller, I’ll be able to use its motion sensor for smooth gyroscopic aiming, and take advantage of the adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and touchpad gestures. For PS5 Pro users like me, that means higher quality shadows, better reflections, and more realistic volumetric cloud and fog effects – all thanks to the console’s powerful ray-tracing capabilities. And let’s not forget, after STALKER 2 releases its major 1.5 update, us Sony users will get the game with a bunch of new content and gameplay enhancements!

In spite of encountering difficulties during development, the game “STALKER 2” managed to attract a massive 6 million players within three months of its debut. Its popularity was such that it even led to internet disruptions in Ukraine upon launch. With its upcoming release on a new platform, player numbers are expected to surge further. Furthermore, the developers at GSC Game World have assured continued support for both “STALKER 2” and the “STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy“, so additional updates can be anticipated.
