The eighteenth season of Overwatch 2 is now active, introducing a host of thrilling enhancements. The Stadium Quickplay mode undergoes significant changes, a new aquatic Support Hero named Wuyang makes his debut on the roster, Player versus Player (PvP) receives a complete facelift, and two Mythic skins are set to be released. Additionally, the Summer Games are back with Lucio Ball featuring a third-person perspective.
Stadium Quickplay Upgrades
In Season 18, Stadium mode undergoes an upgrade, introducing fresh Hero characters like Winston, Brigitte, and Pharah, with Tracer set to join later. The Quick Play Queue has been tweaked for faster games with shorter match durations. Meanwhile, Draft Mode offers the opportunity for teams to strategize and counter-pick before the game begins.
In this refreshed Payload Race, multiple payloads race simultaneously towards checkpoints for a win at the finish line. Three fresh maps – Powder Keg Mine, Thames District, and Oasis Gardens – enlarge the play zone. The inventory of items welcomes three new additions, undergoes ten major updates, and receives nine balancing adjustments. The prizes for Elite Rank have been updated with Epic versions of Mei, Reinhardt, Ana, and a Legendary All-Star D.Va.
New Support Hero: Wuyang
In simpler terms, Wuyang offers a new, expertly-executed support gameplay style. He can hurl mid-air water orbs for a powerful burst attack with his Xuanwu Staff. His Guardian Wave pushes opponents back and increases healing for teammates. Restorative Stream adapts to continuously heal allies over time, while Rushing Torrent allows him to swiftly move by surfing water currents instantly. Lastly, his Ultimate, Tidal Blast, grants extra health and sends out a wave of knockback, which is ideal for shifting the tide in battles.
As an enthusiast, I’m thrilled about Overwatch 2’s new character, Wuyang! This dynamic support hero offers some exciting perks. For instance, features like Overflow and Balance ensure a consistent regeneration of resources. On top of that, Ebb and Flow, as well as Falling Rain, reward you generously when you pull off those high-impact plays. Essentially, Wuyang is here to stir things up and bring fresh excitement to the Support role in Overwatch 2!
PvP Refresh & Perks Update
In Season 18, there’s a complete overhaul of the competitive landscape, introducing more than 50 unique Hero-specific Perks. Adjustments to heroes such as Lúcio, Winston, and Pharah foster inventive playstyles. Rank resets and MMR modifications make progression more equitable and teamwork in squads less challenging, thereby fostering a new competitive dynamic.
Double Mythic Skins
As a dedicated gamer, I’m super excited about Season 18! We’re getting two new Mythics this time around. Sojourn’s Ultraviolet Sentinel is a beauty with four evolving tiers that incorporate cyber-light technology, fresh hairdos, and amazing VFX effects. And let me tell you, Cassidy’s Blazing Sunsetter Weapon Skin really sets things on fire! It heats up in real-time, complete with reactive visuals and a lethal kill effect at Level 4. Can’t wait to get my hands on these!
Battle Pass & Summer Games
In simple terms, the Season 18 Battle Pass offers exceptional Legendary skins for characters like Kiriko, Lifeweaver, Pharah, Hanzo, and Lucio, in addition to emotes, charms, and voice lines. The Ultimate Battle Pass Bundle provides additional Tier advancements, Overwatch Coins, and unique Legendary skins such as Poolside Wuyang.
The 2025 Summer Games take place from September 2nd to September 15th. Lucio’s game reappears with a third-person perspective, and Winston makes a comeback in Volleyball. By engaging in event matches, players can earn seasonal prizes such as the World Cup Lucio costume.
Hero Skill Rating & Progression 2.0
The Hero Skill Rating measures the performance of each character in the competitive mode. With Progression 2.0, leveling up becomes quicker, features a sleeker user interface, and grants permanent Ascended borders to heroes. Loot Boxes are given out as rewards for reaching certain milestones, displaying the commitment shown towards the entire roster.
Advanced Info Panel
The updated Info Panel offers accurate details about damage, healing, cool-down periods, and game statistics to enhance your gaming experience. Soon, a dedicated Hero Stats web page will be available to monitor Win and Pick Rates, empowering players to make informed decisions, play more intelligently, and refine their strategies.
The eighteenth season of Overwatch 2 commences on August 26th! Dive into the action-packed Stadium Quickplay, perfect your skills with Wuyang, rule the Summer Games, and delve into brand new features. Make a massive impact in Overwatch 2 Season 18!
