Cory Monteith’s Mom Dies 11 Years After Actor’s Death

Cory Monteith‘s family is dealing with another heavy loss, 12 years after his untimely death.

Ann McGregor, the mother of the deceased ‘Glee’ star, peacefully departed this life on June 18th, as confirmed by those close to her in a digital tribute. She was 74 years old.

We are expressing our gratitude to the friends and acquaintances who have stood by Ann throughout the years, providing her with their support. Additionally, we would like to extend our thanks to the medical professionals at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon for the exceptional care they provided to Ann during her stay.

The family added they would celebrate Ann’s life privately at a later date. 

I can’t help but feel the profound impact of the recent events unfolding, as just a month ago, Ann’s life took an unexpected turn with the passing of her ex-husband, Joe Monteith. On May 12, he left us after a long illness, as confirmed by the Oromocto Funeral Home and Crematorium. The bond between them was once so strong that they parted ways in 1989, but they shared something even more profound – their 45-year-old son, Shaun Monteith.

After the heartbreaking loss of my beloved son Cory due to a drug overdose in July 2013, I’ve been candid about the immense impact his passing has had on me. As a single mother who nurtured both Cory and Shaun, I’ve faced the challenging reality of life without them.

She shared with People magazine in 2018 that she’s yet to recover from the loss of her son at 31. ‘Everything came to a halt for me,’ she said, admitting, ‘I’ve changed since then.’

It’s clear that despite living apart, with her son now residing in Los Angeles, Ann mentioned that their bond remained very strong as he never failed to celebrate her birthday.

Previously, we’d always go out together,” she went on. “We had a preferred eatery where we’d indulge in fish and chips. Remarkably, at the tender age of 3, he would stand up at the counter to settle the bill. He could engage with anyone effortlessly. There was something unique about him that I could only appreciate.

Furthermore, even though Ann acknowledged that she was the one who repeatedly admitted Cory into rehab for his drug issues, he continued to conceal his battles with addiction from her.

She shared that he concealed things from her out of affection and a desire to shield her, saying, ‘He was merely extremely inquisitive, and the mysterious side of life seemed to captivate him.’
