Demon Slayer Hypes Its Most Powerful Hashira With a New Look

The initial part of the “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle” trilogy is slated for U.S. release on September 12th, 2025, and anticipation for it is exceptionally high. Tickets have been available for over a week, and it’s currently the biggest pre-seller ever. The film premiered in Japanese theaters on July 18th and broke numerous box office records. As the trilogy concludes with an epic battle against demons, many characters are expected to join the fray. It’s only natural that Gyomei Himejima, one of the most powerful members of the Demon Slayer Corps known as the Stone Hashira, will also have his moment in the limelight, following his introduction several years ago.

Gyomei, a highly favored character among manga readers, may not be as well-known to those who only watch anime. On his birthday, August 23rd, the official anime website shared an endearing chibi image of him in a white outfit with a green haori, contrasting his usual black uniform. The setting is festive, filled with soft colored flowers, balloons, and ribbons, all typical for a celebration. Additionally, the animation studio responsible for Demon Slayer’s anime, Ufotable, posted special merchandise based on Gyomei’s official birthday card.

Fans of the manga really love Gyomei, but he might not be as popular among anime-only fans. His birthday was August 23rd, and the anime website shared a cute image of him dressed differently in white with a green jacket. The scene is decorated for a party with balloons, flowers, and ribbons. Ufotable, who makes Demon Slayer’s animation, also made special items based on Gyomei’s birthday card for fans to buy.

The Most Powerful Demon Slayer Will Get His Chance to Shine in the Infinity Castle

Gyomei made his debut towards the end of the first season, but it wasn’t until later on that we discovered his extraordinary abilities. Unlike many of the Hashira, Tanjiro didn’t team up with Gyomei for a mission, so viewers haven’t yet seen the full extent of his powers. However, the Hashira Training Arc demonstrated that he is the strongest among the Hashira, and future episodes will show us that

Despite being blind, Gyomei consistently refused to let his condition hinder him, climbing to the peak of the Demon Slayer Corps as its oldest and strongest member, the Hashira. This esteemed position earns him the admiration and respect from his fellow Hashira, allowing him to command authority whenever the master is absent. With the exception of a single battle against Muzan Kibutsuji, Gyomei has yet to engage in significant fights within the anime. However, during the events at Infinity Castle, summoned by the Biwa demon Nakime, Gyomei was among the Demon Slayers present.

The Upper Moons are biding their time within the castle, readying themselves to successively eliminate the Corps members. Much like the other characters, he too will engage one of the Upper Moons, and without a doubt, it promises to be an extraordinary battle. Gyomei briefly appears in the trailer, but his opponent remains unclear. The trailer has disclosed only three significant fights for the first part of the trilogy, and Gyomei is not involved in any of these battles. In the manga, however, his battle unfolds during the latter stages of the Infinity Castle Arc, suggesting a more prominent role for him in the second segment of the trilogy.
