Coronation Street favourite returns to the cobbles next week after months off-screen – but what brings them home?

Beloved character Evelyn Plummer from Coronation Street will make a comeback on the cobblestones next week, having been absent from our televisions for several months.

In January, the character portrayed by Dame Maureen Lipman made a decision to follow her heart and enroll in university to study law, thus departing from Weatherfield to embark on this new academic journey.

In December, Lipman disclosed that she was going to take a break from the show for a year, as her character’s presence would be intermittent due to her desire to devote more time to her partner, whom she is engaged to.

In March, Evelyn made a short visit back to the cobblestones, as she discovered that her daughter Cassie Plummer (played by Claire Sweeney) had unfortunately fallen into a drug dependency relapse.

Next week, we’ll see Evelyn back on our screens as she encounters Roy Cropper during his visit to the hospital due to a painful back.

Roy fills Evelyn in about the latest happenings on the cobblestones. Eventually, Evelyn casually proposes attending Carla Connor and Lisa Swain’s dinner gathering. But the question remains: How will the locals react, and what factors have led to her return?

In another episode next week on ITV’s soap opera, Carla will ask Betsy Swain (played by Sydney Martin) for approval before proposing to Lisa. Betsy indicates that she is supportive of this decision.

Nevertheless, the plans don’t work out as expected, and after a rejected proposition, Lisa shares her own ideas with her daughter.

Who will pop the question first?

As Todd Grimshaw (played by Gareth Pierce) recoils in horror from Theo Silverton’s (portrayed by James Cartwright) abusive behavior, cunning Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) persists in exploiting a recent startling revelation.
