Xbox Cloud Gaming Now Open to Game Pass Core and Standard Subscribers in Xbox Insiders Program

Microsoft has revealed that members of its Xbox Insiders testing group who have a Game Pass subscription can now stream more games using cloud technology. Notably, this includes PC users who can access certain titles they own from Microsoft via cloud streaming. This functionality is accessible to subscribers of either Xbox Game Pass Core or Standard, but it’s important to note that it’s available only in regions where Xbox Cloud Gaming is supported.

Microsoft declared that they’re enhancing the methods for players to explore PC gaming via Xbox Game Pass. As part of the testing phase, subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Core or Standard (who are Xbox Insiders) will now have the opportunity to play select titles on their PCs for the first time. This expansion offers increased flexibility and the choice to enjoy games either on a PC or Windows handheld device.

It’s important to mention that PC gamers will need to utilize the Xbox app on Windows for cloud streaming games. On a positive note, they won’t have to fret about specific hardware needs or storage issues because cloud streaming lets them launch their game almost instantly without such concerns.

A month after announcing cloud streaming via the Xbox PC app, Microsoft has now made a wider selection of Xbox games playable on PCs through cloud streaming. This new feature is free to use and doesn’t require any additional purchases from players. This move is considered an extension of Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere initiative, which allows users to download eligible games for both their Xbox consoles and PC via the Microsoft Store without having to buy them twice.

Initially, the cloud streaming service was exclusive to Game Pass Ultimate members. However, with the latest update, it has been expanded to include both Game Pass Core and Standard subscribers as well.

In their recent statement, Microsoft explained that these updates are a significant step towards enhancing the Xbox experience on PC, aiming to bring more of the appealing aspects of Xbox to a wider range of locations. Whether you’re streaming games, returning to the cloud, or earning rewards for gameplay, it’s about providing you with greater control, versatility, and incentives to play in the way that suits you best.

Microsoft’s efforts towards Xbox Play Anywhere undeniably strengthen its advantages for the forthcoming handheld gaming devices, ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. These systems, jointly developed by Microsoft and Asus, are set to launch globally on October 16, as both companies revealed earlier this month.

Because many portable devices may not have sufficient processing power to handle high-end video game titles with top-notch graphics settings, Xbox Cloud Gaming enables users to stream high-quality versions of games they already own directly onto their device instantly. This assumes, however, that the handheld is connected to a fast and reliable internet connection.
