Movie deaths often stand out as iconic, such as Scar causing Mufasa’s demise in The Lion King or Tony Stark sacrificing himself in Avengers: Endgame. But TV shows aren’t far behind when it comes to surprising and emotional departures. In the realm of television, shock value reigns supreme, like Ned Stark losing his head at the end of Game of Thrones’ first season. Sometimes, a character’s death feels inevitable, yet still leaves an enormous impact, such as Walter White’s final moments in Breaking Bad.
Given DC’s extensive television legacy, it’s hardly unexpected that they’ve orchestrated a good deal of on-screen demises. Yet, not all characters who meet their end get to choose their exit. Below are the four most ruthless death scenes in DC’s TV series.
Given DC’s lengthy small-screen pedigree, it’s no wonder they’ve had their share of TV deaths. Not every character who meets their demise gets to decide how it happens, though. Here are the top four most gruesome deaths in DC‘s television shows.
4) White Dragon (Peacemaker)

In the first season of “Peacemaker”, after Chris Smith’s involvement in “The Suicide Squad” events, he returns home where his father, Auggie, had been looking after Chris’ pet bird, Eagly. However, their relationship is strained and deteriorates further when Chris’ work with A.R.G.U.S. negatively impacts Auggie’s life. This leads to a confrontation as Auggie puts on his White Dragon suit and gathers other like-minded individuals for a mission against his own son.
Towards the end of the season, a fierce confrontation ensues between Peacemaker and White Dragon, a battle that leaves no doubt about its intensity. A series of powerful explosions and fatalities mark this encounter, with Peacemaker ultimately gaining control. In an unexpected turn of events, he points a gun at his own father, whom White Dragon doubts could take his life. However, the doubters are silenced when Peacemaker fires the gun, causing a lethal wound to his father’s head.
3) Henry Allen (The Flash)

Barry Allen dedicates a significant portion of his life to seeking a means to free his father from prison, who was wrongfully imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit – the murder of Barry’s mother, committed by the Reverse-Flash. Once the Reverse-Flash is eliminated, Barry successfully secures his father’s release and helps him rebuild his life.
In simpler terms, the villain known as Zoom disrupts Barry Allen’s peaceful future by causing chaos in Central City. Once his identity is unveiled, he aims to transform the Flash into a replica of himself, taking it a step further by brutally murdering Barry’s father by piercing his chest with his hand. This heart-wrenching act, which demonstrates Henry’s profound concern for his son at this critical moment, makes for a difficult viewing experience.
2) Hawk (Titans)

In the DC Universe, Dick Grayson gathers his former teammates once more due to the world’s demand for a new superhero squad, known as the Titans. His old allies Hawk and Dove rejoin him, taking on mentorship roles for the newer generation of heroes like Gar Logan (Beast Boy) and Rachel Roth. However, their most significant undertaking revolves around Jason Todd, Batman’s latest Robin, who exhibits a fiery temperament.
Following Jason’s reunion with Batman, the Joker orchestrates a cruel trick on his adversary by murdering his associate. Subsequently, Jason undergoes resurrection courtesy of Lazarus Pitt and focuses his intentions back on his former comrades. By apprehending Hawk, the rechristened Red Hood gains residence with the hero and prevents the detonator from falling into Titans’ hands. In a heart-wrenching twist, just as Red Hood makes Dove believe she’s there to rescue her love, she inadvertently triggers the bomb, annihilating him instantly.
1) Donna Troy (Titans)

Because of the somber atmosphere in Titans, there are several gruesome deaths depicted. Although Hawk’s death is particularly brutal, Donna Troy’s fate in season 2 rivals it. Donna Troy, a former protégé of Wonder Woman, becomes part of Dick Grayson’s group. In season 2, the titular team clashes with Deathstroke, and he doesn’t spare any violence.
At a park, Beast Boy and Superboy, under Cadmus’ control, wreak havoc. In the midst of trying to protect innocent people from harm, Deathstroke intervenes, drawing the attention of the Titans away. Once the situation calms down, Donna finds herself battling against a towering structure about to collapse on civilians. Overwhelmed by the structure’s excessive electrical energy, Donna tragically perishes in front of her friends. Although she is later brought back to life, the harrowing experience of witnessing her death remains deeply engraved in everyone’s memory.
