Terrific news everyone! It seems we have reached the pinnacle of video gaming with the creation of the ultimate game. Therefore, further development of games appears unnecessary. Let’s wrap things up and head back home.
A notable modder named InfernoPlus has ingeniously combined two fantastic game worlds, blending Morrowind’s expansive landscape into Elden Ring to create an extraordinary fusion that could be called… Eldenwind. Or perhaps more appropriately, Morroweld. This remarkable creation is the work of Todd RR “Miyazaki” Howard.
As an ardent admirer, I’d express it like this: “Morrowind, a timeless gem in my gaming collection, holds a special place. Yet, its combat can be a tough nut to crack. So, I envision a fusion – blending Morrowind’s captivating universe and rich lore with the smooth, soulful combat of a Souls game. Essentially, it’s about marrying the finest aspects from both worlds into one exhilarating experience.
Although it’s far from perfect, it’s already remarkably strong and powerful. Feel free to travel from Seyda Neen to Balmora at your leisure. If you fancy scaling Red Mountain for an overview of Vvardenfell, go ahead! And if you’re inclined to betray Arrille (the well-known merchant from Arrille’s Tradehouse), do as you please.
In this version, I tried to make the language more natural and easy to read while preserving the original meaning.
Initially, InfernoPlus aimed to incorporate Morrowind’s expansive terrain into the framework of Dark Souls 1, but realized that the antiquated engine struggled under the immense load. Dark Souls 3 managed a closer fit, but still bumped against the boundaries set by the world-loading limitations. Ultimately, they found satisfaction in Elden Ring, a choice driven by improvements in its modding tools and the belief that Elden Ring surpasses Dark Souls 3 in quality. And indeed, their decision seems justifiable.
There’s certainly much more work to be done, and one crucial aspect that remains unresolved is the creation of navmeshes for the enemies in InfernoPlus. This means that the numerous bandits residing in its caves are stuck in an endless loop of rolling away from attacks (which, to be honest, is quite similar to how I typically play Souls games). As a result, there’s little strategic or tactical interaction when they try to defeat you.
In addition, they haven’t varied the design of the non-player characters (NPCs) beyond the typical “default female character,” with all non-human NPCs being goats. However, in this new version, you can converse about any dialogue topic with every single NPC, a feature that didn’t exist in the original Morrowind. I believe that the number of default female characters was limited in the original game.
Truly, the work that InfernoPlus has accomplished is genuinely stunning, and I can only wish for a universe in which I might experience my all-time favorite game, Morrowind, merged with the sophisticated features of a contemporary FromSoft title.
Is it possible we’ll reach our goal? Perhaps, but it’s going to take a lot of effort. InfernoPlus seems certain they’ll need assistance from outside sources to finish the project. On the positive side, there’s no reason to worry about legal action since InfernoPlus asserts that this project doesn’t infringe on any copyrights.
The key to making it work would be having both Morrowind and Elden Ring. Then you could transfer assets from Morrowind into Elden Ring, similar to how numerous total-conversion mods operate.
As a dedicated gamer, I can tell you that InfernoPlus confidently stated they’re unfazed by potential legal action from FromSoft, expressing their confidence in a bold manner by saying, “They’ve got us covered solidly.” So, there you have it.
