Stardew Valley is Getting More Content With Update 1.7

Eric Barone, often referred to as “ConcernedApe,” has shared exciting news about additional content for the farming life simulation game, Stardew Valley. During the recent Stardew Valley Symphony of Seasons concert, he initially announced this new content, which he labeled as update 1.7. Later, he officially unveiled it to a broader audience via social media platforms.

Barone didn’t specify the type of content we can anticipate from the Stardew Valley 1.7 update, nor did he disclose a specific release date for it. However, on social media platform X, Barone recently announced that an update is indeed coming, but without providing a definite timeline for its launch. He wrote: “I’ve got some exciting news to share from the concert last night – there will be a Stardew Valley 1.7 update! While I can’t give you an exact release date or estimate, rest assured that it is in development.

Caught off-guard by the sudden reveal, I wasn’t expecting an update so soon, especially after Barone mentioned his focus on the Haunted Chocolatier project last year. Following the release of the 1.6 update for Stardew Valley, Barone had shared his plans to delve into the development of the next big title. It seems like he’s been brewing up new ideas for content in our beloved farming game ever since!

It’s quite logical that this unexpected announcement aligns with Barone’s plans, given his frequent expressions of intent to carry on backing Stardew Valley for many years to come. As recently as January, he even declared his ambition to keep developing updates for the game for another 50 years.

In an interview, Barone expressed that he greatly values the opinions of fans, considering their feedback and new ideas. He actively listens to their thoughts, both positive and negative. Moreover, he highly respects the players, acknowledging that it’s due to them that he is in his current position, the game has gained popularity, and his dreams as a game developer have been realized.

As a passionate game dev on Stardew Valley, I’ve often found myself grappling with the mountain of content this game has grown into over the past decade-plus. Frankly, it can get a bit overwhelming when it comes to fixing bugs and managing updates. But let me tell you, I’m still determined to make Stardew Valley shine – the absolute best version of itself that it can be. Despite the endless hours poured into this game, I’ll keep pushing for that perfect harvest of fun and engagement!

Barone expressed his viewpoint, saying, “I believe a game may contain excess material.” He further explained, “My ultimate goal is for Stardew Valley to be the finest game possible. If I sense it’s becoming overly cluttered with content to the extent that it negatively impacts the game’s enjoyment factor, I would halt the process at that point.

Additionally, it’s my aim to create multiple games throughout my career, and I’ve spent more than a decade developing ‘Stardew Valley.’

Since its debut in 2016, Stardew Valley has proven to be a major triumph for Barone. As recently as January, he announced that over 41 million units of this life-simulation game had been sold already. Among these sales, PC versions accounted for an impressive 26 million copies, with the Nintendo Switch coming in second at 7.9 million copies sold.

You can play Stardew Valley on a variety of platforms including PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, as well as Android and iOS devices.
