In the Marvel Universe, the Hulk stands out as a unique superhero, often pitted against fellow heroes in his most renowned battles. From the start, the Hulk has yearned for solitude, but military forces in the U.S. have consistently interfered. Consequently, various heroes have been drawn into conflicts with the Hulk. This pattern has resulted in the Hulk engaging in combat with virtually every prominent hero on Earth. Spider-Man, Wolverine, and even Thor – the Hulk has bested them all, although Thor has managed to defeat the Hulk on occasion. The Hulk’s power is such that he could potentially overpower the entire Avengers team, regardless of their strength or capability. It’s no wonder that the Hulk is known as the strongest there is.
It’s exciting news that Marvel and DC Comics are collaborating again! Although details about a solo crossover for the Hulk aren’t out yet, he has previously clashed with two notable DC characters – Batman and Superman, even losing to them on occasion. Given his history of facing off against major Marvel superheroes, it’s only fitting that he takes on the DC heavyweights next. While there are certainly some heroes who could best him, here are seven DC champions the Hulk would be ready to square off with and potentially defeat!
7) Donna Troy
Among the enigmatic characters of DC Universe, Donna Troy stands out as one of the most complex, even alongside the Hawks. Her origin story undergoes multiple transformations, but in essence, she was adopted by Queen Hippolyta, granted a share of Wonder Woman’s powers, and dispatched to Man’s World to aid her sister in combat against evil. A formidable warrior of her generation, Donna Troy has faced off against some of the most perilous villains known. With years of fighting behind her, she is not only skilled but also tactful. Yet, when confronting characters like the Hulk, her power level falls short. She can evade the Hulk for a while with her flight ability, but her strength is insufficient to inflict damage on him. There’s a possibility she could attempt to subdue the Hulk using her lasso, but it’s doubtful that such an action would be effective, given his unyielding nature. Despite her resilience (and I strongly recommend reading Titans Annual 2025 #1 for a deeper appreciation of her character), Donna Troy is simply not a match for the Hulk’s overwhelming power.
6) Cyborg
Over time, the Cyborg has undergone a significant enhancement in power. Initially, he suffered an accident and received cybernetic body parts from his father. Later, he bonded with a Mother Box during an invasion by Darkseid. The Cyborg is like a tank, extremely strong and resilient, capable of transforming his limbs into any weapon he requires. He also has the ability to command technology and create Boom Tubes for teleportation purposes, transporting himself and others to desired locations. Known for being a seasoned, tough fighter who often catches opponents off guard, the Cyborg has proven himself in countless battles. Yet, despite his skills and power growth, he stands no chance against the Hulk. The Hulk’s strength is simply too overwhelming for the Cyborg, as he is frequently overpowered by his enemies. A confrontation between the two would mirror their battles with Iron Man – an exciting read but ultimately unfavorable for the Cyborg due to the immense power gap. Despite being one of the most formidable Teen Titans and a former Justice League member, the Hulk’s strength is beyond anything that Cyborg can handle.
5) Superboy
The Hulk isn’t likely to defeat Superman, contrary to what most Hulk fans believe. Most Kryptonians have more power and diverse abilities than the Hulk, making them stronger in a fight. However, Superboy, being only half-Kryptonian, will struggle against the Hulk. Initially, Superboy’s powers were based on tactile telekinesis, but they’ve evolved over time to resemble Superman’s. Yet, Superboy is not as powerful as Superman and can be quite impulsive. This recklessness could lead him into trouble against the Hulk. Although Superboy is stronger than the base level Hulk, he tends to make mistakes due to his ego and a lack of strategic thinking. He won’t act quickly enough to avoid getting hurt by the Hulk, who will grow more powerful as the fight progresses. Superboy’s jokes and attacks could provoke the Hulk further, pushing him towards a level of power that could potentially harm Superboy. For now, the Hulk holds an advantage over Superboy, but it’s possible that Superboy may learn to overcome the Hulk in future battles.
4) Jay Garrick
Jay Garrick was the first person to become The Flash. He got his speed powers after an experiment with hard water, and he chose to use them for good. Jay was one of the founders of the Justice Society, fighting both enemy spies at home and supervillains. However, due to political reasons, he retired along with the rest of the Society. The Speed Force kept him and his wife young, and when a new generation of heroes emerged, they looked up to Jay as the original Flash. Over time, Jay teamed up with Barry Allen, who followed in his footsteps. The Justice Society reformed again, and Jay became a part of the Flash family’s ancestry.
Despite being a Flash, Jay is not as fast as some of the others like Barry, Wally West, or Bart Allen. This lack of speed could be problematic against the Hulk. Although he might land some blows and cause damage to the Hulk, Jay can’t reach speeds that would allow him to use the advanced tactics other Flashes could use to defeat the Hulk. The fight wouldn’t be quick, and despite Jay giving his best effort, the Hulk would likely overpower the original Flash.
3) Aquaman
In contrast to common belief, Aquaman could hold his own against the Hulk in a fight more effectively than many assume. Although his ability to converse with marine life has limited application on land during combat, Aquaman possesses other formidable skills that make him a formidable opponent. He is incredibly strong, demonstrated by his ability to tug massive container ships and even support a continental plate. His resilience is remarkable, as he can endure the pressure of the deepest ocean depths. The Trident of Poseidon grants Aquaman diverse magical powers, and he is also an accomplished hand-to-hand combatant, capable of matching Wonder Woman in skill within the Justice League. A battle between Hulk and Aquaman would likely be intense, with Aquaman being able to keep up with the Hulk. However, as the Hulk grows angrier and stronger, it becomes a battle of endurance, where Hulk can inflict enough damage over time to eventually defeat Aquaman. Aquaman may not be able to retaliate in the same manner. This would be an unforgettable fight for the Hulk, but he would ultimately emerge victorious.
2) Wonder Woman
While it’s possible that Wonder Woman could defeat the Hulk due to her superior strength and agility compared to his base level, the likelihood of this outcome is rather slim. An Amazonian warrior with unparalleled combat skills and an arsenal of weapons including sword, shield, spear, cestus, and the Lasso of Truth, Wonder Woman showcases strength akin to that of Superman but falls short in terms of raw power.
Wonder Woman’s speed rivals even that of the Flash, making her a formidable opponent. However, she might seem outdated or less intimidating compared to some other superheroes. Despite being stronger and faster than the Hulk in terms of her maximum strength level and cruising speed, the Hulk’s renowned resilience and ability to withstand attacks could make a fist fight unfavorable for Wonder Woman.
The Lasso of Truth presents a potential advantage, as it might allow her to outwit or disarm the Hulk in some way. However, the Hulk’s penchant for unpredictability makes it difficult for her to catch him off guard. Ultimately, this match-up would likely result in a physical confrontation that Wonder Woman may not be able to win.
1) Batman
In ancient times, Batman and the Hulk clashed, with Batman emerging victorious through strategic use of a knockout gas. However, over time, the Hulk’s power has grown exponentially, rendering that tactic ineffective. Although Batman may devise a strategy to overcome the Hulk or utilize advanced equipment like the Hellbat armor to secure a win, opportunities for such encounters are scarce. The Hulk proves too formidable for Batman without extensive study and custom-built machinery. However, such conditions would be unlikely in a straightforward fight. Batman is always prepared to engage in battle, but the Hulk’s strength is simply beyond Batman’s capabilities.
