Solo Leveling’s Sequel Teases the Return of A Fan-Favorite Hunter

Since the arrival of Season 2 for “Solo Leveling: Ragnarok”, its successor is holding up to the hype by matching the initial story’s thrill. Despite the absence of any updates regarding Season 3 for the original “Solo Leveling” anime, “Solo Leveling: Ragnarok” has been satisfying fans in the interim. In fact, tensions are escalating in the second season of Ragnarok, as they’ve introduced a popular hunter back into the mix amidst an increasingly complex storyline.

In their latest post on X, D&C Webtoon released a sneak peek for the upcoming chapter of Season 2 of “Solo Leveling: Ragnarok.” This teaser features the much-loved S-rank hunter Baek Yoonho teaming up with Sung Suho. Characters such as Choi Jong-in, Lim Tae-gyu, and Thomas Andre have already been seen in the sequel, but Yoonho’s return is a more recent event, making his debut in Chapter 50 of Season 2. In this alternate timeline, fans are now able to see a matured Yoonho, and he appears as cool as ever.

Previously in Season 1, viewers got to know Yoonho’s daughter, Miho, but Yoonho himself has been surprisingly absent from the scene despite his role as the White Tiger Guild Master. However, the return of familiar faces like Hwang Dongsuk and Kang Taeshik in Season 2 of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok is nothing compared to the anticipation surrounding Yoonho’s appearance. In Chapter 50, Miho and Yoonho made their reappearance on the battlefield during the Jisan prison break, while Chapter 52 marked the long-awaited encounter between Suho and Yoonho.

In an alternate scenario depicted in Ragnarok, it’s disclosed that Yoonho worked as a firefighter together with Jinwoo’s father and Suho’s grandfather, Sung Il-hwan, prior to transforming into an elite S-rank hunter. Remarkably, even though Suho was portrayed as a villain in Season 2, Yoonho identifies him as the grandson of Sung Il-hwan. As a result, he extends trust in his innocence, which sets the stage for their powerful team-up against the fugitive escapees in Chapter 53. This partnership proves instrumental for Suho, providing him with an essential ally against the skepticism of other high-ranking S-rank hunters.

Ragnarok” has once again astonished fans with its outstanding character designs post-time skip. Notably, Choi Jong-in, Woo Jinchul, Lim Tae-gyu, and even Yoonho’s designs have remained faithful to the original series, capturing the essence of these beloved characters. It’s delightful to observe these elite S-rank hunters occupy a more prominent place in the narrative, as they were previously underutilized in “Solo Leveling”. Despite this, there’s still hope that the anime adaptation might offer a different take on their roles.
